If you're sick of seeing feminists discussing misogyny on DU, then quit acting in a misogynous way.

I've seen the misogyny on the rise in our country and even on these boards and I'm sick of it.

Meta is like a free for all knock down, but it overflows into GD sometimes.

Most of DU is not in favor of this. We should take as some good news.

I say "tired" because while I expect to encounter the oh-so-funny sexist remarks from the conservative quarter, it always takes me by surprise to discover that my fellow "liberals"and progressives are speaking that same lingo, heedless of the impact their attitudes have on the women in their lives.

Today, I was reading a thread on S.E. Cupp, and while there are any number of legitimate complaints to be made about her political views, what do I read? A handful of men defending her because she's "cute", or he's a "single" man, or men can't be men because then she would become a "Feminist Martyr ".

So, here I am, 50 years later, and I'm tired of this shit. I'm tired of seeing young men in a 21st century America who share the same sexist attitudes about women as those hoary old men who dominated my youth. Yes, I'm tired or seeing the same political and social platitudes about women that reduce us to nothing more the sum of our ever-changing body parts.

The disgust... the hurt... the sadness, lingers to this day.

I didn't know where to post this, so my apologies if I picked the wrong place. Nonetheless, thanks for letting me vent.

a lot of people, BOTH genders.... are TIRED of it. we are suppose to be better than this. duers constantly pat themselves on the back that we are better than this. and they generally are the ones in the thick of it.

thank you for the post.

personally... i am raising two boys. i am not gonna be tired enough to shut up until they are well on their way.

thanks for posting. thanks for your vent.
