There are clearly a group of people who are abusing the alert system to chase feminists off this site, and unfortunately it is working. The jury system is turning this site more and more right-wing as the trolls have learned to exploit the system.

Unpopular ones, or uncomfortable ones, you get alerted on. I have 2 hides in my ten years of DU, both in here. One I did on purpose, the other was something from a feminist blog I had posted twice before on DU2. I took a hiatus from DU--prior to that I posted in the feminist group. When I returned, I no longer reconized it.

I don't involve myself too much in GD, this is the primary and sometimes the only place I post at--although I am involved in outside activism, and my activity here is restricted. As far as Facebook, I belong to more than one private group on FB and I enjoy them very much.

I'm sure there are lots of feminist groups--I beling also to my local Vday group-- it all depends on what you want.

I fully understand where you're coming from. It's obvious this group is being targeted and it appears that absolutely nothing will be done about it. If women can't come even to HoF without being abused, what's the damned point?

Further, I really don't want to hear any more denials from certain quarters that both this group and certain posters here aren't being stalked and alerted on with the intention of driving them from DU. That's just bullshit.

I tend to go overboard with trying to see all sides of things and I will sometimes see the point of hides that are unfair, but still happen. I think overall the system actually DOES work. It is slow and often inefficient, sometimes there are mistakes. However the alerts and hides for vocal women and in particular a few of you (ahem) in this group are so blatant and such obvious stalking I just don't know how admins can't see it.
