trash meta. they are insignificant. that is the only place one sees the garbage. trash it and do not experience the ugly anymore.

(7,237 posts)There are a handful of nasty people who are intent on dragging this group through the mud. It is the same jackasses over and over again, predictable as clockwork.
Most of DU doesn't know about all this completely manufactured meaningless drama and/or doesn't care.
I wil miss you if you go.

I just hope they begin to get bored with it. How the hell much longer can the flogging continue, before someone says, hey this shits boring?

(16,232 posts)That we exist?
That we won't lay down, roll over, and die?
That we won't kowtow to THEIR demands?
That we deny them the right to come into OUR group and denigrate us?
That we have the audacity to stand-up to them, or ignore them, or otherwise make them think that we think they are "less than us"? (And in a whole damn lot of cases, they'd be right on that point, impo.)

(102,408 posts)We are allowing our detractors in meta to impact the group and to deter from our goal of having a safe haven. Passing Fair has posted a thread here suggesting hiding (trashing) meta. Whether or not we all decide to do so, I think, we need to refocus our efforts on book club and our group threads/discussions--the things that make the group worthwhile.
Please, let's not let the ugliness that never ceases among some in Meta drive away Merrybloom and others. Engaging with the unrelenting group in Meta that wants nothing more than to create more drama is self-defeating. Time, I think to redouble our efforts toward making this group what it can and should be and let the hatefulness permeating meta die out of its own accord.
Just my thoughts, but I feel better for a decision to stop posting in meta. Avoiding it totally will take a bit more restraint.
boston bean
(36,223 posts)We should avoid it at all costs and focus on the group.
There is nothing that can be said or done to change any of the minds of the small group of people who continue to attack us via meta.
And I am sorry, but I cannot allow people who post such attacks on us in META to post in here at free will. I know that it makes me uncomfortable when those who are constantly attacking us in META are posting in here. I assume it is the same for all our members. That is not a safe haven.
I have said it before, if you don't respect the group and try to work things out in a respectful manner here with the members and hosts, and you go right to meta with any complaint, I do question ones motives. And the only conclusion I can come to is they were here to disrupt only. Looking for a block, so they could high five their internet buddies and get another 4-5 threads droning on and on about how unfair we are.
There are constant threads. We get attacked for blocking people. We get attacked for not blocking certain people. We get it from every angle, no matter what we do, we should have done the opposite, even if it was something they complained about earlier and the position is the exact opposite of the position taken earlier by our attackers. You are suppose to act at their will. No matter what.
And the complaints about the voting eligibility list are way out there. There are THREE ways one can become eligible to vote in group matters, and it is not a MEMBER LIST. And the only reason we had a need for it was because of the previous brouhaha. Imagine if we didn't have a voting eligibility list. Those who hold such grudges would all come in here and to take over our group.
A safe haven cannot be run that way.

(102,408 posts)--and has nothing but contemptuous derision for the group and its members--has no other intention but to do so here... particularly when they arrive to post here just after their latest Meta tirade.
There is one hell of a lot of disingenuousness (at best) among those who would deride HOF blocking policies, while knowing full well that other safe haven groups (including LGBT) would not tolerate those launching similar meta attacks on their group(s).
