I don't like that we lose our post if we click back. [FIXED / not an issue]

Start a post.

Click back.

Click forward.

Post gone.

Wasn't like this on DU2.

Note: clicking back is useful if you want to go "back" to the thread and then open a new comment in a new window or read the thread to make sure you're responding to the right person or whatever. I've learned to open the thread in a new tab if I want to do that so that's OK.

The bigger issue is if there is a connection problem (either the site is having maintenance or my connection is iffy). If you post the form and then click back, pow, all the post is gone.

1. Not happening to me. No kidding. I'm amazed that it hangs there again and again.

Do you have your browser set to dump cookies when you go from one thing to another?

Mine only loses the post if I close the tab or window completely. The only way I can quit a post is to do that.

4. Hum, I'm not having a lot of the issues cited here in Help. I'm running Firefox, OSX 10 and NoScript

I also customized the fonts, colors and set preference on cookies, etc.

5. I use Opera but I just tested it and it happens on all sites.

Weird that I never noticed it before except on DU!

What prompted me to post was I lost a massive comment I'd written and couldn't recover it, hundreds of words, really frustrating.

6. That's awful. I used to post on another website where I had to copy my post before posting as half

The time it'd lose it while posting. Very frustrating. I haven't had that problem here, been spoiled.

Is the site running slow for you? Are you running several windows or tabs (different screens either way)? I had to drop my Youtube feed on the convention and go to the CSPAN feed because Youtube was stalling out and affecting my browser. Are you listening to the convention or doing some other activity that's slowing you down online?

I'm running 5 tabs, 6 programs offline, have Intel and broadband and it's usually very quick. I've had to wait for my typing to show up in my titles and messages. I think it was because of Youtube.

I did lose my star though and I didn't notice this issue until that happened so I assumed it was something with the themes but it must've been when Opera upgraded coincidentally around that time.

Otherwise DU loads really fast. I don't know why I use Opera anymore since Chrome is so good as is Firefox. I used Opera from when it was a tiny little browser and was the fastest. At least since 1999. I guess I can't give up on Opera even though the latest versions are just darn buggy.

9. I used Opera back then, too. Then IE and when I went to Mac I went Mozilla.

Are you losing the replies you send me?

Maybe it's an internet burp. Comcast doesn't go bad often, but then I have to go to the trouble of rebooting my modem.

10. Nah, it just happens when I use the back button.

Basically the text box gets wiped when you use the back button for some reason. I tried figuring out if there was a workaround to no avail. Normally you can type something, click back, click forward, and it will still be in the box. Likewise if you click submit and for some reason the site is down for maintenance or your internet goes out you should be able to hit "back" and still retrieve the contents of the text box. Apparently Opera doesn't remember.

The site is darn stable outside of the late night backups when it's down for about 5 minutes.
