Avatar Help...

Hi,
I know this has been the subject of many threads and I looked through some but I still can't figure it out. I get this error when I try to upload a picture for my avatar.

There was an error with your upload: Your file is not a supported type. Please upload .gif or .jpg images only.

I right click on the picture, properties, and it says JPEG, the size is 6.68 KB. I used microsoft office to open the picture but do not see an option to save as jpg.

Anyone have some help for me?

1. Possible fix, find the file and rename the file extension from JPEG to jpg.

Not certain if that's the fix but it's what I would try.

2. You could try uploading the image to imgur or photobucket or some other image host...

... and then putting the image in a reply here so that someone can try to figure out if there is something causing problems with that image and possibly come up with a solution.

Of course if what NYC_SKP suggested works then ignore this post...

Hey,
Not sure why I am having so many problems, it was there and then it is not there.

Thanks NYC_SKP! Weird that the jpeg didn't upload. So now, after uh..almost 10 years I may have an avatar.

I can't even find WHERE on the DU page to try to upload my favorite personal avatar from my computer. Had to take one of the company offerings for now. It's okay, but it's not me.

Yes, they kindly sent me a message explaining that. I'll become a star member in April, my first financial opportunity. But I look forward to making this website my online home. Is there a blues group by any chance? I love most types of music, but perhaps blues most of all. Used to sing a little, even. Crazy about Odetta.

We don't have a "Blues" group (nice idea though ), but there are a lot of Blues fans posting in the Lounge here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1018 and we also have a musicians group here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1035.

Odetta's voice is powerful and passionate. Koko Taylor is one of my favorite female vocalist in that genre.
