Regarding NICS laws and Background Checks. A question.

A federal prohibition would exist for any person who:
Has been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year
Is a fugitive from justice
Is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance
Has been adjudicated as a mental defective or committed to a mental institution
Is an alien illegally or unlawfully in the United States or who has been admitted to the United States under a non-immigrant visa
Has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions
Having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced U.S. citizenship
Is subject to a court order that restrains the person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of such intimate partner
Has been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence
Is under indictment for a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year
I know that I can cross post this to the other group but I feel more comfortable asking this here.
When a person is denied or delayed a gun purchase, are they informed as to the reason why? Are they just simply denied?
Anyone familiar with what happens after a gun purchase is denied?

There are some politicians out there saying that if we deny background checks to people on the no fly list it will tip them off — Governor Kasich in particular. I am looking to see if what he is saying has any validity.

The candidate admitted that “of course it makes common sense” to ban gun purchases for people on terrorist watch list, but he said that “what we have to deal with is the fact that we don’t want to tip somebody off that they’re under review and that we could be gathering critical information to disrupt the plot.”
“Once it happens, we know how tragic it is,” he said. “So what he have to do is to make sure we do disrupt [terrorist plots].”

Do people who are denied purchasing guns told the reasons why they are denied?
I am tempted to call a gun shop tomorrow to ask personally. In the meantime I was hoping DU GCRA peeps could help me out with this one.
