This is the way it should be done!

Gun stores see rush of business after Mass. AG plans to close loophole

“The gun industry doesn’t get to decide what’s compliant. We do.”

Every attempt to ban assault weapons results in nit picking the law to find a way around it. Remove this or that cosmetic feature and say, "See, it's now compliant with the law!"

The Massachusetts AG just called bullshit on the gun makers saying that it's the internal mechanism that decides if a gun is compliant or not. If it works like an assault weapon it IS an assault weapon.

So, yeah the gun nuts who so desperately need yet another gun to enhance their manhood ran out and flooded the gun stores but from now on Massachusetts will not sell new assault weapons.

Oh, and Tim Kaine has an f minus minus rating from the NRA. that's enough for me!

AP Poll: Support grows among Americans for stricter gun laws

Americans increasingly favor tougher gun laws by margins that have grown wider after a steady drumbeat of shootings in recent months, but they also are pessimistic that change will happen anytime soon, according to a new Associated Press-GfK poll.

-Snip-

The poll was conducted July 7 to July 11, shortly after a string of high-profile shootings. That included the Orlando nightclub massacre that left 50 dead, including the gunman, and 53 others wounded, and the fatal police shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana. Most interviews took place after the sniper attack that killed five officers in Dallas.

A majority of respondents expressed a desire for a national approach to gun laws, rather than a patchwork of state laws or local regulations, even though Congress has thus far failed to act on many of the initiatives the poll showed Americans support. Yet less than half of respondents said they believe gun laws will indeed get tougher in the coming year.

By a 55 percent to 43 percent margin, respondents said laws that limit gun ownership do not infringe on the constitutional right to bear arms. But the responses also revealed a partisan divide: 87 percent of Democrats support stricter gun laws compared with 41 percent of Republicans.

The tide is indeed turning and the gun nuts are in a deep state of denial.

Or is it just an uniformed knee jerk reaction.

the article:

"She said the directive clarifies that duplicate guns are those that have internal operating systems that are essentially the same as illegal assault weapons, or have key functional components that are interchangeable with those of banned weapons."

It doesn't matter whether or not it has "that thing that goes up," it's still an assault weapon. But I suspect that you already knew that and are just trying to disrupt this Group.

actually know what it is they are trying to make illegal. Mr. 'I got a federal firearms license', who I'm sure wouldn't lie about such a thing, is afraid to specify what that operating system is. I just think that someone who wants to have laws changed should be able to explain what it is and why they need to be banned, so yes it does matter.

You parrot the NRA stance that in order to call for responsible gun regulation one must be an expert in gun mechanics and design in order to have an opinion?

Yes, you are here to disrupt.

I have a federal firearms license. I daresay that I know more about guns and the relationship between warfare and weapons development than most gun nuts here on DU.

If YOU don't understand the internal mechanisms of assault weapons I suggest that you are too ignorant of the topic to have this discussion. (Borrowed from the gungeon).

If I had a knee jerk reaction it would be to plant my knee --- never mind.
