I was never a fan and knew very little about her before reading her obits.

I'd say ..... as a documentary.... it's very good. Sustains interest from beginning to end.

However.... one still comes away without understanding who she really was and why she fell so far so fast.

Other than, of course, the obvious: drugs and alcohol.

I've always been interested in her and was surprised to see the movie was out.

Most of the film consists of.... what we called in the old days... "home movie" footage.

Amy was videod copiously from the moment she left the womb, it would appear. Her adulthood and even her gradual collapse is recorded informally by.... well, by whatever amateur was standing nearby and holding the phone at the time. Which evidently was almost ALL the time.

All that documentation.... yet still very much a mystery.

To me, anyway.
