Last night, I was at a Shred for Bernie 21+ event in Ames, IA. We raised about $600 and 5 local bands played for free. I got 40 Commit To Caucus cards signed but almost every single person wanted to know:
-- How do I even register to vote?
-- What do I need to bring?
-- I have no idea where to go or how to even find that info.
-- A lot of complex questions like having two addresses or having an old address on a drivers license or having an out of state license.
Ages 21-35 were at this event. We need to make sure that these people have clear answers or THEY ARE NOT GOING TO SHOW UP!
The music was incredibly loud, and I was not prepared for the multitude of questions I got about even just registering to vote. People are willing to commit to caucus, but those 1s and 2s still need our help to know where to go, what they need, and they need questions answered. We have to make caucus night SIMPLE for them.

What the heck is a Shred? Tried googling but really didn't get an answer.

1. The art of technically and rhythmically hammering out amazing
and lightning-fast solos on a guitar.
2. To play so amazingly fast on the guitar you almost destroy it's strings.
Hope that helps.
Thank you for all you are doing to help Bernie and this country !!!

Election Day Registration
You may register and vote on election day. To do so, you first must go to the correct polling place for your current address on election day.
If you are unsure of your polling place, Find Your Precinct/Polling Place.
At the polling place, you must prove both who you are and where you live. The best way to do this is with your valid Iowa drivers license with your current address printed on it.
Proof of ID
If you do not have an Iowa drivers license, you may use a photo ID that is current, valid, and contain an expiration date. The following are acceptable IDs:
Iowa non-driver ID card
Out-of-state driver's license or non-driver ID card
U.S. passport
U.S. military ID
ID card issued by employer
Student ID issued by Iowa high school or college
Proof of Residence
If your photo ID does not contain your current address, you may use another document to prove where you live if it contains your name and current address. The following are acceptable proofs of residence:
Residential lease
Utility bill (including a cell phone bill)
Bank statement
Paycheck
Government check or other government document
Attester
If you cannot prove who you are and where you live with the documents listed above, a registered voter from your precinct may attest for you. Both you and the attester will be required to sign an oath swearing the statements being made are true.

(11,468 posts)For free. We have a bunch in my area for debate parties, yesterdays volunteer thing, next weekend we have funk band doing a thing like yours.
What we are doing is having volunteers there to answer questions and register voters. I am one of them and work weekly at the college registering so i am on that part.
When i lived in WA i learned to caucus so when in nevada i could tell people what it was.
For the future just try to have volunteers trained for questions, yes some places get loud, we have our table by the door where it is quieter, for registering, tshirts, bumper stickers and buttons.
This next event i will be registering a lot, anyone who registers gets in free, all profits go to Bernie. Owner loves him.
