Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumcan someone give me some background about these allegations
by the Clinton campaign?
I'm only asking because I haven't kept up with some of the going-ons in their campaigns. I just want to know what happened that caused them to make those claims.
I'm posting in the Bernie group, as a Bernie supporter requesting more information from other Bernie supporters. I don't want us to get into any arguments with Hillary supporters. Please.
From http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2016/02/07/hillary-clintons-campaign-seeks-to-portray-bernie-sanders-as-a-deceptive-candidate/
Clinton campaigns communications director, Jennifer Palmieri, said, It seems the Sanders campaign has shifted from insulting and dismissing people who dont support him to falsely claiming their support. Despite being called on deceptive campaign tactics and misleading ads for weeks now, Sanders has now chosen to mislead voters on a veteran and veterans groups support. Enough is enough voters deserve better.
The Clinton campaign pointed to fliers from the Sanders campaign that it said inappropriately used the images of veterans, ministers and senior groups to insinuate that Mr. Sanders had their endorsement, when he in fact did not. It also pointed to television ads in which it said Mr. Sanders misled New Hampshire voters by suggesting he had the endorsements of newspaper editorial boards that had not endorsed him.

(20,234 posts)In the case of the newspapers, it looks like he/his campaign interpreted glowing editorials about him as "endorsements" when they had not formally endorsed a candidate. So, for example, this from the Valley News: ""A presidential candidate who vigorously espoused populism from a progressive point of view could help restore much-needed balance to American political life, which has tilted sharply to the right in recent decades," could read like an endorsement - but unless the paper says "we endorse XX" it's not the same thing.

And Hillary is just the opposite.
They will throw whatever they can at him...hoping something sticks. It never will because he's CLEAN! Absolutely no scandals in his background. They can't take him down because he's AUTHENTIC

(3,623 posts)At least this time we have a candidate who has a 50+ year record of standing up for people, whereas Obama was an empty canvas that a lot of people misunderstood. Most thought he was as liberal as the activists who took him to victory in the Iowa caucuses, but it turned out he was another Clinton-esque Democrat that sells out to the corporations. I would hope Bernie is not going to sell us out the moment he says the Oath of Office. His record is very, very strong.
Of course it is entirely possible Hillary will win and it's probably still very likely at this point. The entire Establishment has been behind her from the DNC to MSNBC to CNN to Senators and Governors, etc. They really, really don't want Bernie to win. I realize some of it is probably just political calculation that a socialist can't win a general election, but the American people support his agenda when you ask them the questions point blank.

(8,333 posts)and hope the Sanders team responds to each claim. If they did something wrong, own up and apologize. If not, dispute the allegation.
Dirty tricks are executed for a reason: they work on people who don't know the targeted candidate well enough to judge if it's BS or not. For that reason, I hope Bernie sets the record straight and moves on to address more important issues, like financial and social inequality!
