and start being y'know, an investigation? Help me lord, what with Camp Weathervane constantly spinning the goalposts back, I've lost track.

(3,623 posts)No way to spin it. Personally I am shocked that a very smart person could make such a dumb decision. I would be fired in a heartbeat if all of my company emails automatically forwarded to my Gmail account. Her closest advisers are lawyering up as the FBI prepares to interrogate them.

(11,785 posts)In much the same way that only she gets a transcript of her speeches, she wanted control of the emails. At the time, she probably reasoned that she was reducing the risk of having any of her statements used against her in a future Presidential run and didn't see how she was creating an even larger problem. If this were a "normal" campaign, she might be able to ride that out, but it's her shitty luck to be running against someone who isn't a run-of-the-mill politician.

(975 posts)If they're involved it's usually a big deal. And the Democrats just ignore it like it's not really happening.
If something like this can be ignored during a Presidential election by the entire Democratic leadership then there's some serious problems in that party. Clinton could be indicted at any time and no one seems to give a damn. Just ignore it and hope it goes away. smh

In a letter disclosed Monday in a federal court filing, the FBI confirms one of the worlds worst-kept secrets: It is looking into Hillary Clintons use of a private email server.
Why say this at all, since it was widely known to be true? Because in August in response to a judges direction, the State Department asked the FBI for information about what it was up to. Sorry, the FBI said at the time, we can neither confirm nor deny the existence of any investigation.
Now, in a letter dated February 2 and filed in court Monday, the FBIs general counsel, James Baker, notes that in public statements and congressional testimony, the FBI has acknowledged generally that it is working on matters related to former Secretary Clintons use of a private email server.
Baker says the FBI has not, however, publicly acknowledged the specific focus, scope or potential targets of any such proceedings.

(84,711 posts)That's helpful, because I heard it on MSNBC but didn't get a clear picture that this was NEW NEWS. This makes a difference. Not that it will probably go anywhere given a Dem Admin isn't going to want to prosecute her...or maybe they won't find anything in the end. Still this is important to know that FBI is still investigating which means she has that cloud hanging over her.
I'm still waiting for the Clinton Foundations dealings to be investigated. I think that's what is going to be the really bad news for her down the road.
