These charts are amazing, but what's even more amazing is that Nevada has same-day voter registration. That's my understanding and if I'm wrong, someone please correct me. However, I heard that people in Nevada can register on the same day as their caucus and participate.
If that's true, they could really see major blowout participation.
It didn't go that way in Iowa. We didn't have a lot of new registrations prior to the Iowa caucuses. The deluge came the day of.
This is setting up to be an incredible NV caucus!

(9,314 posts)She also said Nevada has only been doing a caucus for three years. The reason we have not and will continue not to see too much polling is because those who poll feel it is impossible to make a correct finding. The reasons for that are (1) the same day registrations, no can can guesstimate how many there will be; (2) lack of reviewing a tracking pattern due to the short duration of time Nevada has been caucusing; (3) they don't want to try because they feel there is an excellent chance they would not be too accurate and thus ruin their reputation. So .... it is anybody's guess.
But I do not know how one can not think this is excellent news for Bernie Sanders. And while the opposition continues to say Hillary has the advantage with African-Americans and Latinos, the exit polling from NH showed they voted 52-48 (something like that) and I assumed Hillary got the 52. But Sanders will also get Republican votes (historically he has gotten 25 percent of Republican votes in Vermont) and a majority of the Independents. The very first estimate I saw on that some time ago was 51 percent. I am not sure what the current percentage estimate is, but I feel confident it will be substantially higher than Hillary's portion.

(24,411 posts)Here in Iowa, 62 percent of delegates in the most Hispanic heavy communities went to Bernie.
I've been communicating with a leader from LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens). He was actually a Clinton supporter and precinct captain for her campaign in Des Moines. He said that Latinos broke for Bernie in our state, and that Bernie did an excellent job of communicating with and reaching out to their community. The Latino participating in our Iowa caucuses increased by 300+ percent from 2008. No reason those trends won't hold in NV, and from the registration stats, that looks to be the case.
Here's my post (and a link to it if you want to read the comments) for more information:

I reached out to Christian Ucles, a leader with the League of United Latin American Citizens. He worked tirelessly in Iowa, trying to spark Latino caucus participation.
Ucles is a Hillary Clinton supporter and he was a precinct captain for Hillary in one of the Des Moines suburbs.
He has sent me several voice mails and we have corresponded about the Latino community and its impact on the Iowa Caucuses.
He's analyzed the caucus data and the top two takeaways are:
1.) 62 percent of delegates in the top Latino Iowa precincts--were awarded to Bernie.
2.) 12,000 Latinos participated in the Iowa caucuses; an increase of more than 300 percent from 2008 numbers in which 3,500 participated.
Ucles further explained the data and his experiences with the campaigns:
Ucles said, "I looked at the top Latino precincts and so far, Bernie Sanders is leading with 72 delegates out of 115. There were a lot of precincts that were tied. There were only 4 precincts out of the 115 precincts that were considered college-town precincts. So, I do believe that the Latino voters did help Senator Bernie Sanders, and our experience was that a lot of Latinos were supportive of his candidacy."
This translates into 62 percent of delegates in the top Latino Iowa precincts--going for Bernie.
When asked about candidate outreach efforts to the Latino community Ucles responded, "I will say that Governor Jeb Bush, Senator Sanders and Martin O'Malley did an extremely amazing job in reaching out to people of color, specifically the Latino community in Iowa."
Ucles added, "I think the Sanders did a better job of reaching out to new voters including Latinos. And Senator Clinton did a good job of focusing on previous caucus goers. I don't think that bringing out new voters was part of their game. They didn't reach out to the Latino Community as much as they should have."

There has been large active local organizing effort here for Bernie for months. The national campaign got here a couple of months ago (yay!) and volunteers from California and Iowa have been arriving by bus the last couple of days. We will all be phone banking and door knocking for the next week. Don't want to sound over confidant, but I think Bernie has a good chance at winning in Nevada.

post tonight to get the word out about what I just saw.
Please run, not walk, to see Michael Moore's new movie, "Where to Invade Next".
It is such a help to Bernie and yet the movie never has to mention his name.
It's a MUST SEE. Especially now, during primary season. Go with as many people as you can. It implicitly explains/validates the chart above.
Powerful. Devastating. Angering. Inspiring. Moving. Funny.

in his emails. Because he's sick in bed and can't promote it himself.
He needs big numbers, so that it will gain a wider distribution. This is very important for the primaries because it is such a teaching of progressivism.
We didn't know whether to cry or laughit's very very motivating.
One troubling thingthere were almost no young people in the audience.
But they really need to see this and won't be bored.
It's not didactic at alljust conveying huge ideas and facts in a compelling way.
I may even see it againhave never done that with a Moore movie.

(15,480 posts)"Hillary doesn't need Nevada" etc. In fact Robby Mook has already started casting doubt on HRC's chances in Nevada to down play expectations.
Nevada is supposed to be a firewall for Clinton after a rocky start to the campaign. If Mook can expand on his 2008 performance there, he could help launch a series of statewide victories and quiet any talk of a campaign in disarray. But the Clinton campaign's chief spokesman was already casting doubt on its chances in Nevada on Tuesday in an effort to lower expectations. If that fire starts to flame out, Clinton's trajectory might start to look a lot like it did in 2008, and Mook could suffer the fate that's befallen Clinton's past managers.

(3,919 posts)belief that the more voters turnout to vote, the greater the likelihood of a democratic win. she was astounded by the increase of new registrations to vote in nevada at this time.
i also attribute the new registrants to the get out the vote work by young volunteers in nevada - not just gop efforts - but bernie volunteers. it is a true grassroots movement because the msm and the dnc have been no help motivating new voters registration.
