Hillary is especially desperate because it's her last chance to be president...

and the Clinton reputation will be tarnished. Imagine the humiliation that the Clintons would have of losing two supposedly inevitable presidential races, this time to an "elderly bald socialist"! They'd be laughed at, at cocktail parties. Noone will take Hillary seriously if she runs a third time. Thus her biggest dream will likely never happen. So yes IMO that's why she is acting like she absolutely must win this election at all costs.

Back in 2008 there was a strong sense that that was her last chance, that she'd be too old eight years on. Well, it's eight years on and she's at it again. Maybe she was more or less promised by the party leadership that 2016 was absolutely hers, that no one would possibly challenge her, and if someone was dumb enough to do so, that person would be squashed like a bug.

Apparently Bernie Sanders, because he wasn't officially a Democrat until rather recently, never got that memo.

For which I'm inordinately grateful.

So, given their ages, how long will they have to "suffer humiliation" and in the long run, who really gives a damn? Ten thousand years from now there will not be one single trace on Earth that human civilization ever existed. Somehow I don't think that Hillary losing ranks up there with the extinction of the dinosaurs, then fish, then humans, or the last ice age, the next ice age (after the globe gets cooked to a crisp), or the eventual death of the sun.

Even on a smaller scale, millions of humans dying for lack of clean water ranks just a little bit higher than laughter at a cocktail party. We should care about getting clean water to those who need it. We should not give a damn about cocktail party laughter.

We should care about the tens or hundreds of thousands of people displaced from their homes by war, and we shouldn't give a damn about a washed up politician's humiliation. It just plain doesn't matter.

Hillary should care more about the people right here in this country who have lost and continue to lose their jobs to outsourcing, and stand to be devastated even further by the TPP, than about her reputation at cocktail parties. If she really cared about this country she would drop out and endorse Bernie.
