Bernie Sanders

Look, I would like to stay away from sour grapes as much as possible. Bernie fought a great campaign in Nevada, and I was impressed by the amount of territory he was able to make up in a very short amount of time. In general, I find it unbecoming for us Bernie boosters to wallow in bitterness about all the stuff that went wrong (which is not the same as taking an active, positive approach to prevent it from happening again). Bernie gets treated unfairly all the time, but will never complain about it. It's part of his appeal. He just keeps fighting forward, and so should we.
There is one thing that I found particularly galling though, and it (probably) did not come form the Clinton campaign itself, and that was the SEIU bosses having their membership give out literature falsely stating that the official position of the Clinton campaign is a $15 minimum wage.

It's no surprise that union membership has been on the decline for decades when one considers how corrupt national leadership has become, and what a defeatist, sell-out attitude union bosses have adopted. Rather than operating on the basis of the rank and file, they now resemble the DNC in structure. Part of the political revolution needs to be rejuvenating and empowering union workers to take back the levers of power within their own organizations, and then fighting to expand them rather than playing defense all the time. This also means making organizations that are responsive to their base, including campaign endorsements, and not engaging in nakedly dishonest behavior.
NNU did feel the Clinton campaign attempted to pose as NNU members in certain cases, and I think this is rather debatable (http://usuncut.com/politics/clintons-campaign-just-got-busted-impersonating-union-nurses-in-nevada/). However, the behavior of the SEIU has been deplorable, and they need to face some kind of reprimand, because if their members are handing out literature saying Clinton supports the national $15 minimum, then in all likelihood a substantial portion of their membership may actually believe that is the position of her campaign.
This is something I would like to see Bernie's campaign doing; namely: circumvent the union bosses and speak directly to the base, and energize them to get out not only for his campaign, but for their own interests, as well as begin the process of taking back their unions and making them into a real fighting force again.

(20,958 posts)b/c they're supposed to be on the side of workers, and that would imply playing by a set of rules...
but it appears that they're willing to stoop as low as any 2-bit republican-type org. it's really bad strategy.
