I have lurked here for years and started posting a few years ago

I am having a hard time with a few of the posters and the repetitive constant lying and bullying. I know I can put posters on ignore but ultimately I am looking for a site where there's more of a shared progressive agenda...and where the main ongoing theme is shared by most members (money out of politics, education for all without staggering debt, good paying jobs, healthcare as a right, urgent attention to climate change). I feel this site is more a constant competition of our candidates. I sadly think Bernie Sanders has been the subject of lies, innuendo and dirty tricks. I wonder if remaining a part of the site in some ways reinforces this irritating back and forth take no prisoners politics of destruction that I find here. Do any of you post at Jackpine Radicals? I think I might check it out.
Solidarity!

Focus instead on those that are kindred spirits and ignore the rest.

Your choice.

Saw someone mention it on another link. Haven't posted yet, checking it out.
I joined DU in 2005 and as you can see have mainly been an observer. Have learned so much from this site, especially in the early years. Am depressed by what it has become, also have been looking for a more progressive site.
Edit to add I will still be checking in on DU.

I can't seem to get used to the site format over there. But they certainly do have a ton of good posts and they seem to have much less drama.

On a more general note, I think it's good to use both sites. It's important to counter the lies.

I also like to try to understand where the opposition is coming from - I think you must expose yourself to other perspectives to be able to do that. I'm still waiting for one of the HC supporters to articulate a reason to vote for her that I can get behind. (So far - "she's more electable" doesn't hold water for me considering her ability to inspire the R's to come out and vote and her inability to do the same for the D's. And "it's time for a woman to be president" - I have to admit that I also think it's way past time to have a woman in the oval office, but I would rather have a good male president than a bad female president. Her gender is not more important to me than her policy positions - and her history on fracking, TPP, H1-B, war, etc. are terrible.)

Anyway, I like DU - it has really exposed me to news that I would never come across anywhere else. I really, really do understand the frustration, but I plan on sticking around at least until the primaries are over. We'll see how it goes after that. I'm hoping the rightward shift is not permanent.

for one stop "news" shopping.

I think I will register over at Jackpine and continue at DU as well but disentangle from this back and forth with HC supporters.

The only reason I stay here is to support people like merrily and cali just to name a few among many, many people fighting the good fight to counter so many lies and bull shit from the HRC people. I like JPR site and it is worth going there just to take a deep breath and listen to sane people for awhile.
