Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumMy son just left to see Bernie in KC!!
His mom and I gave him permission to take off from school (he's a senior in high school) to see and hear the future president in downtown Kansas City today. He said that five or six other classmates are doing the same! They're all going downtown together.
Not only that, but one of his classmates told him that the principals at their high school are doing the same!!
The enthusiasm is mind-boggling; I've never seen anything like this before!!!
(I tried to go but couldn't get off work )

(399 posts)who is also an enthusiastic Bernie supporter - I love it! The Democratic party owes Bernie some bigtime gratitude for turning on a whole generation of Dems - hope the voters get it right!

(28,498 posts)I first voted in 1972. Elections followed a pattern: election coming up; listen to the candidates; watch the debates; listen to the pundits and read the editorials; vote and if he/she won--great! If not--well, there's always next time; then go back to the daily routine.
But this time is different! Younger voters (as will as some older ones) are listening and researching issues. They're holding the candidates accountable for statements and positions. They're not swayed by the utterances of pundits or the scrawling of editorialists that represent CorpMedia.
And they're following the money! They know who are getting big bucks from OnePercenters and they know why.
This is the beginning of a new generation of Americans hellbent on returning democracy to the people!

(11,546 posts)I think it's great that the school is supportive. Sorry that you couldn't get off of work though.
I hope, when our time comes, I can see Bernie in the SF Bay Area.

Haven't heard a crowd estimate yet, but it was big.

(2,450 posts)I havent heard a number yet either, but the line wrapped around twice in two directions. There were only two doors though, so it took a while to get everyone in. And then getting through security took time too.
He started the speech an hour late, I think they underestimated how many would show. I wonder if they moved to standing room only, there was not a single seat anywhere (except for the press and their folding chairs).
I hope he comes back through again after winning the primary. I had a blast!

(332 posts)They said estimate was 7100, but according to wikepedia they say the arena holds 11,000 (not sure if it was held in the arena tho) if it was and there was folks that didn't even get in it was way more than 7100.

When I get pics from my daughter, I'll find a place to host them and share a few.
