Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumYou want to see what an enthusiasm gap looks like?
The day after Super Tuesday, which saw Hillary Clinton unable to bury the Bernie Sanders campaign, both candidates were back out on the trail to revel in their respective victories and drum up support for the next wave of primaries.
In Michigan, Sanders spoke to a packed house at the Breslin Student Events Center at Michigan State University, where thousands of supporters lined up in the snow for hours to hear his energetic speech.
Meanwhile, in New York City, Hillary Clinton had a very different kind of rally in a draped-off corner of the Jacob Javits Center. The rally was organized for and by many of the labor bosses in New York who had endorsed Clinton over the objections of their members. USA Today, covering the event, called it her victory lap.
For most of the attendees, being at the rally was mandatory, while some groups, such as the Carpenters Union, gave attendees comp time for the hours they were at the event. Even with such incentives, there were fewer than 1,000 people there.

Also worth noting a few more familiar themes of the Clinton campaign showed up. Later she claimed there were around 5400 in attendance at her NY rally. And I read in this article something about her fighting for $15 at this particular event. That will probably change at her next bank speech.
Yesterday was one for the history books! Clinton declared in a hanger-sized room and flanked by giant American flags. Our campaign went nationwide.

This is why I think momentum is on Bernie's side. I know Bernie's numbers are going to grow and it will show at the ballot box.

I mean that would be wrong! Unless they revealed themselves as paid posters, of course.

(15,728 posts)go inside to a rally for Bernie, but they don't "seem to need to take 30 minutes inside a warm building to vote". That is what they seem to indicate isn't it?

(6,007 posts)I want to see one of these pictures side by side with a picture of Hillary at one of her $500 a ticket meetings in someone's home with all those 20+ people. Just to show the STARK contrast.

(1,898 posts)I was in the Big Apple yesterday on business (remaining today). While I am in the Financial District (her second home), miles from the Javits Center, I watched some of the morning local news and there was no mention of her rally.
Besides, if it were such a large event, why is there no mention on the front page of Thursday's Times and Daily News?

(13,326 posts)go to vote. Her support is not enthusiastic but reliable. She is counting on that. Voting is a habit for older people.
bernbabe
(370 posts)young people are much more likely to go to rallies than older people. This is undoubtedly part of the reason. But Bernie definitely does seem to have more enthusiasm behind him.

(11,076 posts)Most young people are at school, work or sleeping when these rallies are held. But I will say that we saw families and young children in the crowds with Obama.

(14,459 posts)She's not interested in people- her votes are dollars. LOTS of them.
And we know the MSM is corrupt, from at least before 2000. As George Carlin put it, "...Neither do I believe anything I'm told by the media, who, in the case of the Gulf War, functioned as little more than unpaid employees of the Defense Department, and who, most of the time, operate as unofficial public relations agency for the government and industry."

Remember, this is our opportunity. We can't blow it.
