Related: About this forumBet On Bernie PAC...what do you think?
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2015/05/30/pacs-promote-sanders/28159039/A solicitation for a contribution came onto my Facebook news feed from Bet on Bernie.
I feel better giving directly to the Sanders Campaign. I think that many people will give to this PAC and think they are giving directly to the campaign.
This is where the news feed graphic landed me:

I want to know what you think about this.

(1,090 posts)Thru Act blue with a tip for them. The money goes direct to Bernie and before I gave to a PAC I would check with his people and see what they think. I'm not sure it's kosher or that he wants one acting for him.

(17,997 posts)Omaha Steve set up? He will meet Senator Sanders next week and will tell him how great we're doing

Second one talks about meeting him
Should we be pressuring PACs like Bet On Bernie to be more transparent? Or should we just let them do their thing?
marym625
(17,997 posts)Yes, be transparent. Especially with Bernie. Don't want anything to come back and bite him in the ass because they weren't
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)And suggested he make it much more transparent that this is a PAC and is unaffiliated with the campaign.
Thanks.

Thanks

(32,067 posts)through Act Blue from Bernie's website & through Steve's link. They both seem to do the same thing & all of the donations show in my list of contributions I've made so far.
I'm not giving to the DNC or any other "PAC". I want my contributions to go directly to Bernie for this run (or for his Senate run if he is able to use them for that).
Same here. Though my donations are few, far between and tiny
TBF
(32,067 posts)even if it's a dollar it lets Bernie know those are potential votes.

(18,791 posts)1. Directly to his campaign via BernieSanders.com
2. The link posted and updated by Omaha Steve, here in the group.
I'm not smart enough to check on the validity of any Pac.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)...and I'm really concerned about this.

(43,853 posts)If you want to donate, I would recommend just giving to Bernie directly.

(17,045 posts)Just want to make that clear. This particular PAC set off some big red flags for me and I wanted to get some opinions.
MissDeeds
(7,499 posts)regardless of how innocent it might be. Better to give through Bernie's site or Act Blue.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)...is how opportunistic this particular one might be.
MissDeeds
(7,499 posts)Better to be cautious.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)I posted a reply in that news feed piece letting people know it was a PAC. I don't want to be attacking any group that supports Bernie, but I really felt like it would be easy for someone to mistake them for the campaign.
Then I wrote to the PAC founder and asked him to be more transparent.
I guess I wanted to get people's reactions because I wasn't sure if I didn't do enough, or if I did too much.

(62,325 posts)would be important to know imo.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)His PAC is the one that bought the Times Square ad, which was Bernie's name and face and the PAC website.
I think he's an opportunist. I think he's just trying to make money.
Was it good for Bernie that his name and face were on the big screen in Times Square? Maybe. But it seems like his primary mission is to drive donors to the PAC website.
Am I wrong? I'm not sure, but I don't think so.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts).does this particular PAC give you the creeps and should one ignore it or confront it?
MissDeeds
(7,499 posts)I'd ignore it. Not worth the risk.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)By confront I mean make efforts to raise awareness, expose them, etc.?
Do you mean it's not worth the of that not going so well?
TBF
(32,067 posts)that might be interesting to know. I wouldn't be surprised to see DNC in the small print - lol. Trying to take our money to use for Hillary ...

(17,045 posts)... But was contemplating the wisdom behind raising awareness so that contributors don't mistake them for the official campaign and pressuring them to be more transparent.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)rather give directly to HIM.
It could be someone trying to undermine him, or not. Safer to give to him imo.
rbnyc
(17,045 posts)..but to what degree do I work to expose this PAC?
