Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumBernie Butter - the low, low, low-priced spread. I won't buy it. I wouldn't even accept it free.
In fact, I wouldn't take it if you paid me.
"I'm for Bernie but....."
This is often followed by full-throated defense of Hillary, or some attack on Senator Sanders and/or supporters of Senator Sanders.
I don't know why anyone has to begin a statement with which candidate they support in the general. Either the content of your statement stands on its own or it does not. Please don't attempt to give your support of Hillary or your attacks on Senator Sanders or on us by attaching his name to your nonsense. Attempts to misappropriate his credibility for nonsense that attempts to deceive others are disgraceful.
Also, I have news for all the wannabe purveyors of Bernie Butter: Supporters of Sanders have a very good idea of who supports Sanders and who does not. So, any effort to endow your statements with Sanders' credibility is not likely to fool anyone but you. Don't waste your breath.
The above applies in real life, on this board and everywhere on the internet. In the event of any doubt as to a claim made on this board in particular, though ,search DU for the name of the poster and Hillary, then search again for the name of the poster and Bernie Sanders. My guess is that the search results will tell a discerning DUer all he or she needs to know.

(14,255 posts)a directive to vote for whoever is the nominee. Oh, and rule of thumb - none of these people think for one fucking second that the nominee will not be Hillary. Keep that in mind if you are thinking hey, they would vote for Bernie!!!!!
There is really no reason to be declaring and/or extracting the Pledgey Thing at this point in time.

That's an extreme example, but I've seen close.

(14,177 posts)What I find troublesome is that those against Hillary, even Democrats, are focused on 20 year old unproven right wing conspiracy theories.
See how close you were.

(45,251 posts)a link is not a call out.
Seriously, this group is alert stalked and I have seen Bernie Supporters get a hide for posting a link or a screen cap. Sucks, but it is what it is.
Alert incoming for me?

(14,177 posts)They say prove people say those things. You do and then they alert because you proved people say those things. It's not cool. I will take a hide if that is what it takes.

(14,177 posts)Hillary says that economic justice and legislative reform will help bring about social justice and in fact you can't legislate social justice you can only hope to change some hearts with good laws and advocacy.
Bernie says the same thing and he is a demon.

(5,946 posts)if someone wants to vote for sanders or clinton because of their ideas, I am all for it, but if someone chooses between them based on their clothes, I think they should read more on the subject of issues. I used to be a good dresser when I had a fancy job and had to sell myself, but being retired and mostly wearing jeans, not so much. I like to keep comfortable shoes far too long. I resent when anyone is picked on because of their clothes looks down on the most comfortable beat up shoes ever
I guess I am prodding people to keep it on a better plane and not fall in to the Trumpovia method of discussing candidates.

(45,251 posts)However, isn't it possible to say "Don't judge a Presidential candidate by his or her clothes?" without prefacing it with, "I'm a Bernie supporter, but,,,,,"
By the way, people IRL are judged by their appearance all the time because how they look can say things about them.

(5,946 posts)Everyone thinks I am in some other camp. I really love some articles and hate others. Some writers misquote people or have tons of typos and otjers are beautiful and full of links that really can change my mind or reinforce an idea. Maybe I should concentrate on the ones I love.

(1,898 posts)I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. Skeptics and cynics love to complain that Bernie can't win the general election. We all know that a focused message is key but it must be transmitted. The fact that Sanders has shattered fundraising records (which already were most formidable under Obama) should assuage many concerns.

(45,251 posts)Trump, on the other hand, doesn't need to raise funds because TV ads are the most expensive campaign item and every station runs infommercials for him for free.
