However, plenty of other DUers undeniably do it and there are threads elsewhere doing that as to WillyT. You should put your negative comments about him there. However, in this group, you should respect the OP's intent and keep your posts positive or neutral. JMO.

Did you do all this while he was still posting here, when he could still defend him, jury your posts, etc.? Or are you doing only now, when he has no recourse, which I personally find cowardly, not to mention disrespectful to Bubzer.
I believe you are the first Sanders supporter I will need to put on ignore. What a distinction! But not until this thread runs its course.
Rebkeh
(2,450 posts)And I didn't see the need to add to the already present noise telling him to stop. I also trusted others to explain it to him because nine voices is not much quieter than ten. He didn't listen, now that mistake will eclipse all his positive contributions. That's how it works. It's unfortunate.
Again, it's regrettable to see him go. I just won't get on board with the revision of history. That's a consequence, it's not just banning that follows.
And if Willy is reading this, I'm sorry you aren't here anymore. You will be missed. I know your intentions were good, but the unintended consequences had a bigger impact. They frequently do.

(20,582 posts)It was a re-posted article. He didn't even write it himself, though he did highlight what he thought was important.
If it wasn't so sad for millions of minorities, I'd almost laugh at the transparency of the trolls on DU who've done their best from day one to paint Sanders and his mean, bad supporters as racist, sexist boogeymen. A man who's worked all his life for equality and to improve the lives of those millions hurting as the result of REAL racism and bigotry, against the profit-prison industry that dis-proportionally targets PoC and leaves families devastated, convicted persons lives ruined - often unable to ever vote again, get decent employment, etc. Clinton has made good money from lobbyists for this industry, and still is.
The 'tough on crime' bill her husband put into place and that she championed with her 'super-predators' - we've got to 'bring them to heel' bullshit.
The welfare reform act her husband worked out so that so many black mothers were forced to work in starvation wage paying jobs, unable to afford child-care, transportation and suffered greatly.
The 'war on drugs' that also disproportionately targets PoC, LE racial profiling and brutality - some here don't give one shit about Sanders positions to address these in a real way. Transparent as fuck.
As someone who was abused horribly for many years, I totally understand 'Stockholm Syndrome'. It doesn't just apply to abused women - it is a very REAL issue that affects many who CHOOSE to stay with someone who's actions have ruined or harmed their lives so much. If people can't take the fucking truth, they shouldn't be posting on a message board.
WillyT was just one of a long line of progressive voices that spoke too much truth. That the Admins used this to ban him was an excuse, and a bad one. Many PoC have since pointed out what a bad joke this has all become. They aren't a stupid, helpless group that needs to be protected from scary words - no matter how dishonestly they're used by those of a sad little group of posters on a message group that need the progressives here gone.
Rebkeh
(2,450 posts)There are times to willingly lose battles in order to win the war. He miscalculated, that's all. We've all done it.
I call people who send others to war warmongers all the time - I state they don't care about human life and if they try to give themselves crazy credentials like feminist, or leader of women worldwide or some such shit I get told I'm wrong and have had many, many posts hidden for it. Should I stop though? No, he didn't miscalculate at all. And again, if people can't handle truth they shouldn't be posting on message boards. People question why battered women stay with their mates all the time - should they stop asking? I don't think so. It's a legitimate question, and a proven phenomenon that affects many groups of people. It's no more racist used here than it is asking it about any other group. But, some have this desperate need for every second post involving black people seen as racist, no matter what the intention. It's been a ploy from the beginning.

No one has to post anything at all on an appreciation thread in the Sanders Group. If they feel they must, they should keep it neutral or positive. They can express negative sentiments elsewhere. There were certainly enough of those in other forums, and what is to be gained by it anyway? Yet another kick at someone who got banned and can't defend himself? (57,936 posts)Boy! Hilary must be scared of California, Washington and Oregon because her storm troopers sure are cracking down on Bernie supporters on DU.
This is no underground. This place is a bought and sold Hillary haven dedicated to preserving the status quo.
Those of us who prefer Bernie have good reasons for it: The Issues.
Hillary is not as strong as Bernie on any issue.
Her claim to be more experienced is sheer bologna. The only thing she is more experienced at is standing beside Bill Clinton at ceremonies.
I strongly believe that the evidence will ultimately show that Hillary is in great part responsible for the terrible mess in Libya and Syria.
I repeat that I will vote for all other Democrats on my ballot but I will never vote for Hillary.
California does not vote until June 7. This campaign is not over until then. And even after that, at 72 I will assure you, anything can happen. Hillary is not a queen.
She may own the owners of this website, but she does not own California, and I think she knows it.

(55,981 posts)racism as a hammer to bludgeon progressives. Which is ironic. The whole thing is ironic. Sanders is less of a racist than Clinton.
Here is what Black Lives Matter said about Clinton:
Here's the truth: the Clinton legacy has left our prisons bursting at the seams. Real lives have been destroyed as a result. It is an indisputable fact that millions of Black people were locked up for drug crimes and provided the bodies for the expansion of the prison industry.
The 1994 Crime Bill that she so vigorously defended not only expanded incarceration, but stripped funding for college education from prisoners. The Clinton legacy allowed for policies that prevented anyone convicted of a felony drug offense from receiving food stamps or income assistance. Clinton-led welfare reform fundamentally ripped apart the social safety net.
Make no mistake, Hillary Clinton's efforts to push these policies resulted in the continued destruction of Black communities and the swift growth of our mass incarceration crisis.
Clinton is not a friend of the AA community.
Depaysement
(1,835 posts)Clintons are no friends of the AA community and they use "racism" to hammer progressives and stifle class conflict.
But it is dead wrong to say African-Americans who support Clinton are suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome or are like battered wives. African-Americans have heard white promises before, from the early days of slavery to reconstruction and beyond. Those promises have more often than not been found wanting and have often proven lethal. So better the Devil you know is not a stupid policy . . . it's a cautious one, borne from history.
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)candidate that has been disastrous to their community. It's a serious discussion that we can't have here because this isn't a "politically liberal" message board as advertised, if you don't say the Politically Correct thing, those that disagree can yell "racism" and if enough of them form a mob, they can get you banned.
H. Clinton and her Prisons For Profits will continue to fill our prisons with minorities. So why would they support her?

I don't know why I want to stand in enemy territory and tell 'em off. Smart people never do that.
When L0oniX was banned, I was inflamed at the injustice and posted a protest in GD-P, giving a somewhat stalkerish Hill supporter an excuse to form an alert party 12 hours later in the wee hours of the morning to get me a hide, followed by a triumphant little PM from the stalkerish alerter.
Only later did I realize there was a nice L0oniX remembrance thread here.
When Manny was banned, I stayed for days in the thread from which he was banned, protesting the unfairness, and got first-hand experience with some of the dirtiest ones out there.
Only later did I realize there had been a long, warm, Manny thread here.

Willy is such a nice person -- not one malicious, hateful bone in his body. A good soul. Whereas the grave dancers are, and always have been, loaded with scowling hatefulness, intent to do harm. I don't know why Hillary attracts such people, but she does. And it speaks volumes about her, as well.
