Related: About this forumNationwide Fundraising Potlucks for Bernie: Dine with the 99%
Hi all,
By now we've all heard about the fundraising dinner George Clooney is hosting for Hillary Clinton. For two seats at the head table with Clinton, Clooney, and his wife, a couple has to raise $353,400 -- FOUR times the average income of a person living in San Francisco.
Natasha Losada has taken the initiative on Facebook to create our own little fundraising dinner; it's called Dine With The 99%. Starting April 14th, the day before Clinton and Clooney host their fundraiser, we would like to have thousands of Bernie supporters across the nation host thousands of dinners where all of us can attend. The event will cover the entire weekend so everyone that has to work or other commitments on Friday can take part too.
If you can't find/host a potluck of your own, take a pic of your meal and your donation and share it using #PotluckForBernie.
Here's how it would work: This is truely a grassroots movement. Individuals around the United States will plan and host an activity in their hometown, it can be a lunch / dinner / picnic / buffet / potluck / coffee break / BBQ etc. Anything goes! Go to http://map.berniesanders.com/ to register your individual event so other Berners near you are aware.
As this is a fundraiser for Bernie, guests will be suggested to make a donation; $27 would be ideal as it symbolic of the Bernie's grassroots movement but all denominations are welcomed.
There is already an event on Facebook, but we need your help to promote the event. Use all the tools at your disposal. Include all those you Facebank in this event and make it a truly memorable weekend and a giant middle-finger to the current campaign finance system.

(1,573 posts)1. This is a great idea!
And of course, the suggested donation should be $35.34!

(1,573 posts)2. To clarify, the $35.34 donation would be per couple...
...or only $17.67 per person. What a deal!

(18,791 posts)3. This sounds great!
Can we either keep this bumped up or will someone post reminders, as that time frame gets closer?
Berners are the best.

This is even better than those "Cookies for Kerry " bake sales back in 2004.

And starting to plan one (if possible) in my area.

(1,268 posts)6. I will be happy to keep this kick'd
And I just thought of college/university campuses that have Bernie chapters. They should be informed on this too!!
And have it in PUBLIC where it can be seen!
Another creative idea brought to you by "People For Bernie"

In terms of Americans Abroad, since it went overwhelmingly for Sanders they should be organizing something.
