The Clintons and Trumps are calling a truce.

While presidential wannabes Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are bitterly lambasting each other on the road to the White House, their daughters have elected to get along.

"Chelsea [Clinton] called Ivanka [Trump] and broke the ice after Donald said Hillary was a liar and blamed her for the world being in flames," says a source close to the situation. We're told that Chelsea made the call to wish the Donald’s daughter a Happy New Year and the two ladies agreed not to let the 2016 election ruin their friendship.

"Because Chelsea is more experienced in politics, she wanted to move forward," says our source. "She knows not to take these things personally."

Confidenti@l reported on Jan. 1 that the relationship between the two longtime friends had become strained in recent weeks.

Our source says that advisers to both Hillary and Donald have quietly suggested that the VIP daughters avoid being seen together during the campaign, though the ladies have agreed to a "play date" with their newborn babies once the election is over. Chelsea, 35, and Ivanka, 34, are both pregnant and due this year.

"Not only would it be a media circus, it could be dangerous since they're both pregnant," says our source. "They've gone 'underground' with their friendship."

In addition to having high-profile parents, Clinton and Trump are two peas in a pod who are both married to Jewish men. They have a long history of exchanging pleasantries on social media and are often seen laughing up a storm at social functions. According to our insider, those get-togethers will be put on hold until November.

"They've agreed there won't be any secret meeting or lunches and neither is going to try and broker a truce between their parents," we're told.

As wise as Chelsea and Ivanka might be, it's hard to imagine their power hungry parents smoking a peace pipe anytime soon.

The Donald, who's the Republican front-runner, has been relentless in his attack of Hillary, who appears to be running away with the Democratic nomination.

In addition to criticizing Hill for taking a bathroom break during a recent DNC debate, he's even brought Bill Clinton's fling with Monica Lewinsky into the conversation.

Hillary declared last week that ignoring Trump was her New Year's resolution.

"I'm going to let him live in his alternate reality," she said at a rally in Iowa. "I'm not going to respond."

We're told that Bill Clinton - ever the diplomat -- was aware that Chelsea reached out to Ivanka by phone and thought it was a good idea.
