According to this map it seems to be the perfect phase of the campaign to do so... I wonder if Pope Francis knew this.

(3,660 posts)It's pretty telling as well. I'm wondering how hard camp Hillary is burning up the phones trying to get an invitation too right now before the torrent of sour grapes is released on the Pope.
Could this say that the Pope thinks Bernie is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the US? Possibly. But it definitely says even the Pope thinks Bernie is much more moral than Hillary.

I wouldn't be surprised that the pope did know.

(3,040 posts)That the MSM is really downplaying his being the first Jewish candidate likely to be president so as to not interfere with Hillary's historic run as the first woman president.

This Pope is amazing! As is Bernie!

(11,410 posts)When the Latino Hillary voter across the street heard Bernie is going to the Vatican she said she was switching sides. That's one.
Good News ... for modern man.

(20,234 posts)Bernie tricked the pope into inviting him because his polling in NY is low and he's bailing on the state.
(not sure if the hillary group got that from newsmax, or if newsmax will soon be getting it from the hillary group.)

(2,353 posts)The new meme of the day is that a self-avowed Third Wayer is accusing Sanders of lying about the invitation. That he actually requested the invitation and that he is politicizing it.
Peace Patriot
(24,010 posts)The way things work among public people--elected officials, candidates, celebrities--your contact person contacts people at events and venues that you deem desirable, and lets them know that you are available. Those running those events or venues don't have to invite you. They make a judgement as to whether you would enhance the event or would be an appropriate guest in one way or another. Then the invitation is issued.
So, whether or not this is how it happened, there is absolutely NO QUESTION that Sanders has been vetted by Pope Francis, who either thought of Sanders and invited him, or was told that he was available and invited him.
The absolutely stupid 'talking point' that Clinton bots are circulating that this wasn't an invitation from Pope Francis is for the ignorant--a group they often play to.
(Note: And this may NOT be a rejection of Clinton. She may not have thought of notifying them that she was available. Since she's the Goldman Sachs candidate, probably she wouldn't consider it. She might get criticized there. But she's a spinning top, so who knows? I doubt very much that the Vatican would have rejected her, if she'd told them she was available. Instead she's doing a Fat Cat fundraiser. Oh well.)

(11,945 posts)Back in the day, Catholics avoided birth control, but I thought they were making their own choices now. If not, that could help explain the higher numbers.
But, whatever, it's good that Bernie's connecting with the Vatican.
