(12,471 posts)and WE THE PEOPLE shall see to it that NY nominates Bernie Sanders for the candidate for the Democratic Party!
Then it's GAME OVER for Clinton. They might as well pack up the house in Chappaqua, and move back to Arkansas!

(15,727 posts)working in NYC for 2 years a LONNNNG time ago, I did not want to come back to Arkansas. And that was when I attended the very first Earth Day.
As has been shown in other states, I am still worried about the people counting the vote.

(12,471 posts)We have optical scanners from Dominion and ES&S. Here is where you can find out more about them: http://www.elections.ny.gov/VotingMachines.html
The counts in NY are done by the Board of Elections which, in each county consist of a Democratic and Republican commissioner. They BOTH count the votes.
I used to setup the old AVM lever machines, and let me tell you, they were pretty hard to setup for the vote. Fixing the vote on one of these was pretty near impossible. There were so many interlocks that made this possible.
I do know that the current machines have flaws, but there is a paper trail, and all of the ballots, which are scanned, are collected, for recounts, if necessary. We had one of these recounts in my town, which I was witness to, and it was done quite fairly. At least I can say that in Ulster County in NY, I trust the election commissioners. I don't know about the other 61 counties in NY though.
You do realize that Tammany Hall showed us how corrupt elections could be, and as far as I know, we have been working to make them more impartial since. Now since the advent of these electronic machines, I am not as certain, but I do know that at least the officials in my county are on the up and up, because I have worked with them.

(15,727 posts)each before the election to test the scanners. If everyone did not come up the right number then call the cops.. I would even have them locked down and the test number posted and then subtracted from the ending totals. Electronic are the way to go, but first they have to be programmed honestly.
Years ago I saw how India did theirs. They had little boxes build in a university lab with colored buttons on them. Each color denoted which party (candidate) used on their posters. All the boxes did was just total the number of button presses. No programming to it at all. They just put in new batterys and made sure the little counters said zero and away they went. Someone would vote and they would stamp their hand. The dye lasted for a week or so. If a person was an adult they could vote. They did not even care where they lived. A real good system that works.
