"For the uninitiated CPT is an acronym for colored people time, an old stereotype African-Americans have employed in jest amongst each other to excuse tardiness. Unfortunately, I found out on Monday that the shorthand CPT is no longer just an inside joke, but such a commonplace referral that even Hillary Clinton and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio are publicly joking about the term."

The look on Hillary's face shows SHE knew what it meant, and was anxious to smooth it over.
Unfortunately, her explanation added to the problem.

context would be good in the Video & Media Section for exposure. Bill de Blah, Blah Blasio is no progressive as I've learned lately from NYers here, also that he may be in need of a new job. "CPT is an inside joke now." That's news. Is 'Stop and Frisk' also a joke now I wonder.

My immediate reaction on seeing that as Red-Baiting Slur. Hillary's reaction was only reassuring that's it wasn't racial.

That was my immediate take, and I do believe I'm right on this.

Unless it's some other nasty, wink-wink, private-club code.

Either way, She disgusts me to my core.

That alone is sufficient.
Then you have Hillary's expression
and then her attempt to smooth it over.

CP, or CPT, is obviously known to the audience, did you hear their reaction?

for obvious reasons.

Seriously. there's no way she'd engage in anything remotely racially implied, especially after the blowback from Billo's politically stupid remarks the other day.

I just can't fathom that even for her.

My instincts say it was code for Communist Party not Colored People.

Of course it's possible I'm wrong, it just doesn't feel that way to me.

Mayor de Blasio, Hillary Clinton ripped for racist joke at Inner Circle show
Source: New York Daily News

Mayor de Blasio and Hillary Clinton are drawing some backlash for a joke invoking a racial stereotype.

In a skit at Saturday night’s Inner Circle show, Clinton joined de Blasio on stage as a surprise guest and ribbed him for his long-delayed endorsement of her presidential campaign.
