Has the democratic party left us?

The transition to a party of war, fracking, job destroying free trade, and corporate lobbying seems to be complete. I look at our party and see only a shell of would it should be. It's sad that so many get so angry when you state that Hillary stands for and supports the worst in politics.

She embraces these characteristics and yet so many think she represents us. Maybe Robert Reich was right. A Peoples Party is needed. Just a thought, but corporate democrats have destroyed our Party.

to become enlightened. Independents and the silent majority of nonvoters get it. America is rigged and broken. Even Trump supporters are more enlightened than oligarchic Dems in this sense.

What we bring to the table is a rationale for actually voting. But in a heavily oligarchic state like NY, voter suppression and a closed primary are designed to keep hacks like Clinton and Cuomo in office.

You add in all the independents denied the right to vote yesterday and I suspect we win even in the belly of the beast.

FDR's 'New Deal Coalition' began to fall apart with the bitter factionalism during the 1968 election, but it remains the model that party activists seek to replicate."

We need to vote for FDR Democrats. And, start a second,"New Deal Coalition". We need another FDR-We need Bernie! We need a new "Worker's Bill of Rights"

FDR's New Deal Coalition: 1932-1968:
"The Great Depression led to a Democratic landslide in 1932. Republican impotence in the face of the depression created a realignment. The Democrats dominated Congress for the next 60 years and the presidency for the next 36 years. ......"

Upon taking office, Roosevelt pulled together the engines of government to combat the depression. The unemployment rate hit 25% in 1933. Laissez faire capitalism had to go. The New Deal created a number of “alphabet agencies” designed to pull America out of the depression. Some worked and some did not. Roosevelt’s biggest accomplishment was saving the banks from complete collapse. Ironically, saving the banks and regulating the economy saved capitalism. Whether individual programs worked or not, it showed the Democrats cared and were trying as opposed to the laissez faire Republicans. This helped forge a new coalition."

"Roosevelt ably reached out to labor unions, farmers, seniors, southerners, Jews, Catholics, and liberals with his policies. It took a very skilled politician to stitch together a coalition with apparent contradictory needs. The New Deal strengthened labor and led to tremendous prosperity for urban workers in the post war era. Senior citizens got Social Security. Farm subsidies helped many. Roosevelt was able to cultivate relationships in order to build this coalition. It was a delicate balancing act. Despite the overwhelming majority, Roosevelt still experienced some difficulties getting his ideas enacted."

"The New Deal faced two major tests before World War II. First of all, FDR needed to be re-elected. Many hated and feared the New Deal. Some believed the New Deal unconstitutional while others feared Roosevelt was setting up a dictatorship. If Germany could turn into a dictatorship, then America could as well. In 1936, Roosevelt won re-election in a landslide. This reaffirmed the New Deal and ended any chance at stopping the new paradigm."

"Franklin Roosevelt built a consensus that more or less exists today. Due to Roosevelt, most Americans believe government has a role in helping people. Worries over the loss of freedom proved unfounded. However, the debate over the scope and effectiveness of government continues and remains in question to this day. Despite the consensus and debate, the party Roosevelt built dominated the national scene until 1968 until blown apart by war, civil rights, and the rise of the neo-left."
Edited to add: I disagree on that last statement.:

It was the rise of the neo-right.( Neo-Cons)
Republican Nixon became President!

I will remain loyal to Bernie. Yesterday in New York showed the breadth and depth of the corruption in the Democratic party. Cheat steal break all rules, then claim your hollow victory Hillary. I will Never vote for Hillary. after this farce of an election, I see little evidence that America is a democracy.

As it highlighted those things you pointed out in spades, And it's probably the reason why we are headed for a record low voter turn out in November. And a lot of dems becoming independents afterwards (if they haven already).

Considering a switch to independent is something I have thought about for a while. The way the Party establishment has forced Hillary on us and tried everything in their power to keep any competitor hidden away has been anything but democratic. They promote someone who is for war, fracking, free trade, and tax evasion and tell us she is the best option. I say bullshit.

I agree that a lot of people are tired of the party shitting on us and trying to ridicule us for our beliefs.

They don't understand the reasons why we need a change, yet.

One thing that might convince some of them are the documents on financial irresponsibility during the last Clinton Administration - allowing Glass-Steagall to be repealed because of a bad trade deal.

Ive posted at least a half dozen explorations of the stupidity of deregulating banks both then and now (now they want to do it again)
