But you'll never convince people they they are voting against their own interests. I have a relative that is voting Hillary because she thinks Hillary will raise her SSI payments to a living wage.

I asked her how much that would likely be, and if Hillary had promised that. Dead silence, followed by metaphorical fingers in ears.

The argument is a valid one, not sure of context but it seems like a silly hide on its face. What, exactly, is over the top about it?
