Bernie Sanders

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1107115866If I'm understanding this correctly, they are blaming us for making them sound, even to themselves, like conservatives.
Does it not dawn on them that they are sounding like conservatives because their candidate is a conservative? - apparently not.

(504 posts).....I honestly think that most Clinton supporters simply want their candidate in office because she's a woman, and they feel this is a pivotal moment in our history that should produce the first female president - similar to Obama's moment in 2008 for the African American community. That is the main point. What disturbs me is all of the sympathy that is felt for Hillary because she's constantly attacked from all sides, reenforces incredulity which pivots on her gender towards those attacks, and it serves as some sort of privileged access to the presidency. She's not a victim because she's a female, rather, she's guilty of not being a progressive because of her standing on the issues and her potential unethical behavior.
What isn't fully understood or accepted is that we critics of Hillary couldn't care less about her gender, and feel tha to support her nomination based on her gender really does a disservice to gender equality. Our critique is that she is THE WRONG WOMAN FOR THE JOB.
Not one thing is sexist about that stance. If another woman held many of the same beliefs that Sanders holds, and she was aligned with the progressive platform, she'd likely have my full support over Sanders because, yes, I agree it's time for a female president. But for this election, one such female candidate simply does not exist.

(36,392 posts)It became clear early in the campaign that her stances on the issues are horrible. then came the long list of lies and flip-flops, then the possible indictment. those who are still supporting her have only one issue in their minds - Hillary was ordained 30 years ago as the First Female President, and no amount of evidence will sway them.

The real question is why are republicans running the dem party?
