finished the primary season deep in debt. I'm thinking about the talking point being circulated that Bernie's requests for donations are "fraud" and that he should drop out because it's "wasting money" and Hillary needs to build up a war chest for the GE.

We already know she's been dipping heavily into the "Victory Fund" for ad buys. Surely she wouldn't have done that during primary season if her campaign was running in the black?

She ended her White House bid in 2008 with $20 million in debt and loans, and while Mr. Obama asked his top donors at the time to help defray it, many of them — still fuming after the contentious primary fight between Mr. Obama and Mrs. Clinton — refused to do so.

hubris, plus current pollng numbers showing big leads for her. That plus Bernie laying off staff, making cutbacks, it makes sense for her to save up money to spend post June primaries/pre DNC convention attacking Trump with ads.

I hope it backfires and has Bernie pull out victories in those states,

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]An article I read - which I can't really vouch for the accuracy of, but the profile fits with tactics we've seen so far - said Clinton phone bankers are spreading rumors that Bernie's dropping out and are pushing "party unity" on that basis.

Has anyone else read or heard more about this?

in her face big time. Something along the line of like having the FBI announce it's recommending indictment for holding classified information on a private server. Because as you know good (Bernie) always wins over evil (Her Darth Vaderness). Isn't that how it's supposed to work?

expect independents to have no chance to vote in upcoming contests. Fine, it goes on like this the party is on its own in the fall. I wish them luck because they are going to need it.

They'll take up the slack. Her campaign can use their own funds for mailings and phone banking.

Edited to add: These spending comparisons are meaningless when they leave out the PAC spending.
