(4,667 posts)sure, coal sucks and mercury, especially in the Northeast is an increasingly TOXIC problem, but, also people cant switch their method of power overnight.
What we should NOT do is export natural gas in TTIP. That is sheer insanity because people will freeze. Also, housing prices will be too high from people displaced from buildings if the price of heating them skyrockets- millions of renters will literally be kicked out on the street.
Some cities could be completely changed. New York for example.
We cannot risk that. So we need to say no to exporting LNG and TTIP.

(20,201 posts)But there are still new plants approved for building. Sure, they're of the "clean" variety, but there is nothing clean about coal MINING. And how can we expect the rest of the world, including China and India, to be serious about climate change if we aren't serious ourselves?
