Foreign money injected into our political process? Hum?
Sarah Bard, Hillary Clintons director of Jewish outreach, will headline a fundraiser in Tel Aviv, Israel on May 17. Is this okay with you?
In fact, theres been a lot of Israel news in the primary process lately and Im going to play catch-up on it here.
First, this just in. Hillary Clinton is going to have a fundraiser in Tel Aviv. Her Jewish outreach director will hold it. Remember that Clinton has pledged Haim Saban to fight the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement aimed at Israel, so shes putting her money raising where her mouth is.

(349 posts)For the good of nearly every man, woman and child on earth in addition to the animals and the environment, I hope the principled candidate - the most principled candidate since FDR - will become the nominee. It would be a minimum 45 state cakewalk for Bernie.

They are also a CT site and are partnered with rense.com, which is explicitly banned from DU.
Look at the bottom of their front page.

(8,175 posts)There is another source for this news. A web link from an "anti-zionist", not "anti-semitic". Wiki does not call it a hate site, although a few people who are strong for Israel do.

(8,175 posts)other lives besides Israeli's are considered worthy too. Mondoweiss is anti-zioinist, NOT anti-semitic. The guy who produced and edits it is anti-zionist like Bernie is, and if you think you can call Bernie anti-semitic and still have any credibility here...well, forget about it.

Anti-Zionists are bigots who don't think national rights should be extended to the Jewish people.

(8,175 posts)He does believe Israel deserves to have it's own nation and defend itself. He also believes that Palestinians have the right to live in peace and not been constantly killed in attacks by Israel. amd their territory constantly invaded by settlements.
A Zionist is pro "Israel no matter what". Bernie wants to support both sides.
Many people think that anti-zionist means anti-semite, but it doesn't necessarily mean that.
Bernie is for Israel, but not for their tactics that keep the war going with the Palestinians.

First, the site is associated with the "Veteran's Today" 'news' group and it is highly unreliable and conspiratorial. The founder (Gordon Duff) is an anti-Semite. It is also associated with Rense.com, which is a virulently anti-Semitic site, and both sites engage in Holocaust revisionism. Supporters of a Jewish candidate, who had family murdered in the Holocaust, should really steer clear of using sites which promotes anti-Semitism and questions the Holocaust.
Second, I have looked and looked, so maybe someone else will have better luck, but I haven't found a single story about this and this "news" item is from two weeks ago. At some point, this would have made it to some other form of media. The link "proving" the assertion, which is a twitter account, is no longer viable. The only places I can find this "story" is on indisputable anti-Semitic sites like Stormfront and National Vanguard (which is claiming it isn't true, which is a shocker).
Third, there are American democrats in Israel, so a "fundraiser" shouldn't necessarily be out of the question; however, democrats in Israel have already voted, and they said "SANDERS!" (he won Israel over Clinton).
Fourth, and finally, this isn't what most people think it is. It isn't a straight up, informative news story, it is a hit-piece, and while I don't care for Clinton, didn't vote for her in Oklahoma, and still support Sanders to the convention and beyond, this type of baiting is disgusting and bigoted. This isn't about "Israel" as it is more about "unholy Jew power."
I don't want foreign interests being placed above our own, and I say that as a pro-Israel person (Zionist), but people need to learn to distinguish between legitimate concerns and dog-whistling, and this article is nothing but a kennel at ear-piercing levels!

ETA: It was bothering me all day, but I had other things to do. I thought I had seen something about this elsewhere, but I really couldn't find any mention other anti-Semitic sites. I don't know why. However, it has been brought to my attention Bard is going to be in Israel, though it still appears Clinton is not. I still stand by my other comments that this source is poison and an alternative source should be used. "Veterans Today" is a rancid webring of sites, anti-Semitism being only one of their bigotries.

Just asking. I don't know for sure, but I suspect they do.
So, how do you know this fund raiser isn't for American citizens living in Israel?
