Don't Feed the Beast.

Last edited Thu Jul 2, 2015, 10:59 AM - Edit history (1)

I put up a dry-witted (some would say dim-witted) post yesterday which was SUPPOSED to be satire, allegory, whatever you want to call it, but not enough people "got it" and took me literally. When your readers can't understand what you're trying to say the fault lies on the part of the writer so, mea culpa. Just for reference, here's the thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10026928453

The POINT of the thread was that some of these people are trying their damnedest to goad progressives into losing it in a post; flying off the handle, over-reacting. Then, between selective editing/interpretation and enough of The Borg on the jury, wham! You get a hide. Four more of those and you disappear for awhile.

The point I was trying to make is, don't engage them. They're posting so much shit they could fertilize every farm in the country.

But that's just it. It's shit. It's not worth your or my time to engage because that is exactly what they want you to do. Don't let them control the narrative. Every time they come out with bullshit about Bernie or the progressives or the Elizabeth Warren wing of the Democratic Party post a separate thread, with facts and links to back up whatever it is that you're asserting, and let the thread do what it will.

Nes pas?

Edited to take out reference to another candidate.

3. I'm guessing they're re-grouping.

In a BIG way. Hillary's support is with Wall Street and The Party Faithful and that's it. She has no room to grow and, with a progressive running who has 50 years of economic and social reform under his belt, Bernie has no way to go but up. I guarantee you they're in full-on panic mode at this point.

I mean, really - Not only do 10,000 voters come our for Bernie's appearance/speech at this stage of the primary, but then Bernie knocks it out of the park with a speech that stakes out specific positions on all the issues, and he does so in a forceful, take no prisoners style. HRC & her staff/supporters have to be absolutely gob-smacked!

The corporatists think they can win by buying a few million Facebook likes. Bernies support is from the people, and people love him. That can't be bought. Hillary's artificial, Wall St backed, campaign will flame out just like '08, for the same reasons.

Ultimately, if posting is a game, if I have to strategize to avoid getting banned, meh.

Everyone has to fight their own fight in their own way and I didn't mean to come of as some Authoritian. I just don't want any of us to go on "vacation." We need EVERY voice.

To get someone banned or run off.

And by the way, I thought your meaning was quite clear and your post well-done.

I check the greatest page, socialist group, Bernie group, and sports group.

But things show up on the greatest if they are from anywhere - so you have to trash a forum to really get rid of it. I decided my blood pressure would be in much better shape if I trashed GD: Primaries.

and spot on. I tend to react and get really hot. I usually write the post then delete. This time I feel so good about my candidate and have been through this so many times on DU that it amuses me mostly to watch them flail around.

Hillary started on 3rd base. There can't possibly be anyone in the country who does not know her. That will not carry her for much longer, this country is getting ready to BERN!

But it's cool. I just wanted to say what I thought needed to be said in a way that wasn't going to get a thread lock or would survive an Alert. Since some of us are on you-know-who's radar and I don't want anyone disappearing.

Sheesh, people can be dense!

Of course, I have a rather "twisted" sense of everything.

A double Bernie Bounce for that post.

in reading talking points from some Think Tank somewhere or seeing the old Rovian stategy, 'attack your opponent on his/her strengths'.

Saw it all before, so I'm busy mostly trying to keep up with the good news we are getting daily about Bernie.

I will post separate threads to correct obvious false information, which is very easy to do because Bernie is such a GREAT Candidate the talking points are blowing and only producing a negative feeling about THEIR candidate.

I know they will get worse the he succeeds so his army of supporters are ready everywhere, because we all know this, to go to work tearing apart any lies being told as has happened already, see how 'successful' Claire McCaskill was, she has been rightly villified all over Social Media and called out as a 'surrogate' for Hillary's campaign. Whether that is true or not, well, those are the consequences when instead of attacking THE BAD GUYS you attack a Democratic Candidate.

to ignore them and concentrate on the good stuff about Bernie. They can't change our minds and we won't change theirs, the rest is all just noise
