We have this dire problem that we virtually ignore because our corporate media rarely talk about it. They have many financial reasons why, but they have been very successful in keeping this issue out of the spotlight.

I guess our ignorance and greed will cause this to be a human mass extinction event to reduce the earth's population. Billions will die and what's left will live a really hard life for an awfully long time. We simply cannot keep growing and expanding and using up our resources at an ever increasing rate. Fish populations in the world's oceans are crashing. This year saw the death of much of the world's coral reefs where the most diverse habitat for sea life resides. The Olympics in Rio highlight how polluted our oceans are becoming. This should be a wake up call. We should be hearing about water quality in the oceans around the world, but there will be no stories about the pollution off of the coasts of South East Asia and China, that's where most of our seafood comes from.

My family lives an hour from the Gulf of Mexico and we used to always enjoy the beach every summer. Now there is so much pollution from run-off that the water is like that of Rio. We now have flesh eating bacteria that make swimming here a crap shoot. I had dreams of taking the grand kids to the beach, those dreams are now dead!
