BURLINGTON, Vt. - Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders says he wants an apology for the American people from President Trump.
The president is set to give his first State of the Union address Tuesday and Senator Sanders has big expectations.
Sanders says the president's frequent lying' has damaged the countrys reputation around the world. Citing an international poll by Gallup, Sanders says respect for the U.S. has fallen from 48% to 30% since 2016.
"I would hope that the president would recognize and acknowledge that a President of the United States does not try to divide our people up based on the color of their skin, their sexual orientation or the country they have come from," said Sen. Sanders, I- Vermont.
