Headcount for July 29th?

Anyone else sign up to attend their local Kick-Off Meeting on the 29th?

I had received an email asking if I would host one, but am not in a position to do so. After a quick search on FB I found that someone else had indeed answered the call, so I signed us up to attend.

Our local group looks small (so far) but from the tiny acorn, etc .....

for We Want Bernie (PDA). But I have to believe the turnout for the July 29 call will be mind bogglingly big. We are all working for the same thing, so being active is more important than anything else. I'm sure your small seed in this fallow ground will take off!

I've been watching some of the available meetings in the area.

If people go to BernieSanders.com and select Attend Events...then enter your zip code, it will show meetings in your area. When you look at Details, you can see how many have RSVP'd.

In my area it really varies...from zero for some up to 40ish for others.

I'm going to check with a couple of friends I think support him and see if they want to attend any of them.

I bet this is going to feel a lot like the groundswell for Howard Dean in 2007.

and there is a second kick-off set up locally (actually closer to us than the one we signed up for), so that's two here. Very encouraging.

Jersey City or Hoboken. I think I went to grammar school with the guy who's organizing it. I'll talk to him about starting a new group - "St. Vinnie's Survivors for Bernie."

something... phone banking, registering voters, etc. It is an opportunity to meet like-minded people that you can partner up with.

This is a bit different because Bernie is going to discuss campaign strategy. This is a very good thing. It will give those who a volunteered more direction.

This from the Washington Post:

On that Wednesday night, six months before the Iowa caucus, Sanders will livestream his case for the presidency to more than 1,500 simultaneous gatherings planned in bars, coffee shops and living rooms nationwide. The candidate’s address will be followed by an organizational meeting for anyone who wants to stay online and discuss joining his campaign.

My place is simply not in shape to host anything, or I'd be happy to do so. I'm hoping someone else in my area will step up.

There are six events within 30 miles of me. None are large, so I signed up for the one I wanted right away. I'm glad I did because it is now full.

Monday we have the volunteers first meeting. I called the organizer last Monday. He said they had already changed to a bigger room once and was worried they might have to again. I told him he should expect more people than had signed up and should consider a bigger venue. I am anxious to get started and looking forward to that first meeting.
