(18,791 posts)We've lost more than a few because it's become so bad.
If you find a site that is isn't as toxic and nasty as this one has gotten, please send a PM...many of us would like to find one.

(371 posts)I have been here for almost eight years, and have rarely put anyone on ignore - perhaps two or three - and never for more than a week at a time. Two weeks ago, I put twelve on ignore. Twelve! I was reading a post the other day that had twenty-six replies and only four popped up - apparently I had the rest on ignore.
I was here during the 2008 primaries and although it got heated, I don't recall it was ever this bad and this divisive. In the past few weeks I have trashed and hidden threads and forums, something that I never would have dreamed of doing.
DU has been a great place for political news, but the current level of vitriol is draining.

And as a p.s. I echo your sentiments about our future should Sanders not get elected. I hold my nose around here sometimes and try to keep my powder dry! I'm doing what I can for Sanders in my local community. Every little bit helps!

(57,349 posts)It's a damned shame that we lose so many during the primaries.
I almost followed you out the door today but someone talked me out of it.
Be well, Admiral Loinpresser.
I will miss snickering every time I see that name in a thread.

(9,688 posts)I said I was gone awhile ago, then get sucked back in.
But this time I'm gone.
The level of toxicity is monstrous, something I've never before seen within a political party. The level of toxicity is growing exponentially, and this is just July '15, the primaries have hardly started. The toxicity is orchestrated. It's part of a multi-million dollar campaign run by pro's. It's all over the internet but DU is the testing bed, or one of the foremost testing beds. We're being studied for how well we can be tweaked, provoked, enraged, and once some tactic has been shown to work it's everywhere. It's on facebook, on twitter, and it specializes in false flag hits.
I don't trust anything about DU, and I don't like the place anymore. Some people that I thought were friends, are most certainly not. That's the hardest part - but "it's the internet" so...
Progressives need their own forum. Not on DU. The owner of DU came out early with a dis of Bernie supporters in ATA, just before coming out sporting a Hillary logo and creating Hillarywoowoo or whatever site. That ATA smear has been reposted several times. I have no doubt that Hillary Clinton's campaign, with all that money, has access to DU's database. No doubt whatsoever. PMs aren't private from HRC's campaign. Nothing said on DU related to any candidate is private from Hillary's campaign. And all of it enclosed in a climate of absolute toxicity where there are no rules, no honor, no truth.
I'm done. Bye.
eta: and m******, re. that pm from last time I "left", yah, I'll check in for that.
