Sen. Bernie Sanders Statement on Seattle Protestors, Aug. 8, 2015

Press Release:

Sen. Bernie Sanders Statement on Seattle Protestors, August 8, 2015

SEATTLE- Sen. Bernie Sanders issued the following statement today after two demonstrators blocked him from addressing an event hosted by an organization supporting Social Security and Medicare.

"I am disappointed that two people disrupted a rally attended by thousands at which I was invited to speak about fighting to protect Social Security and Medicare. I was especially disappointed because on criminal justice reform and the need to fight racism there is no other candidate for president who will fight harder than me."

It may be controlled by the Republicans to suppress the African-American vote or it may be the puppet of the Third Way Democratic wing of the party (what we once called Republicans).

during the 2008 campaign against Barack Obama. She was ruthless. When asked if he was a Christian she said, "Well as far as I know." The woman can't be trusted. With that being said....Bernie has some powerful enemies. The oligarchs and plutocrats that run this country and those that want to run it are going to go after him with all they've got. Bernie....hire some security. These people should have never had access to you or the stage.

Aug 2015

Knowing a lot of dispursed OWS, I think they are neither. I had friends in SAFE, which is a about keeping people in their homes and they loved to disrupt. There is a lot about disruption and not really dialoguing with the offensive party.

I think there may be people who are keeping it up as in flaming what has been set but the disruptors are not apart of the establishment. I don't doubt that BLM is thoroughly pissed at everyone, and why shouldn't they be? How many keep dying, day in and day out. Talk is cheap.

Lives are being lost.

The internets...there may be infiltration, but don't think for one minute that BLM isn't a true grassroots movement.

My 2 cents. Not actually all aimed at you, ensimon33 because you have said what many are saying. I am just not convinced.

25. I think that many for Bernie are just frustrated
Sun Aug 9, 2015, 04:56 AM
Aug 2015

We are frustrated because we know that of all the candidates, Bernie has committed his life to social and economic justice. By disrupting his speeches, those members of BLM, if they are sincere in their actions, are suppressing the very message that should NOT be suppressed.

The horror that African Americans must face daily in this country is a stain on the soul of America. That African American fathers and mothers wonder every time their children leave the house if they will return alive is unspeakably tragic. If the rest of us suffered such horrors day in and day out, the country would have exploded in rage long ago. Then the indignity that the very men and women sworn to "protect and serve" are too often the murderers who are rarely held accountable...how can our nation not hang its head in shame???!!!

But disrupting Bernie's speeches is not a productive means to get their message across. These actions cheapen their message and do not honor those who have died or are imprisoned unjustly.

If the BLM members interrupting Bernie's rallies are sincere, they should rethink their tactics. They are alienating the very people who would be their allies.

NCTraveler posted a link.
It has one of the protesters talking about who she was, how she came to be and what she was aiming to do. Ten minutes and I get it. She talks about all the different ways people try to fight the establishment and what actually works and doesn't.

She made a strong case, IMO to use agitation.

I know the supporters are frustrated, but Bernie is easy to get to and he has the crowds. O'Malley and Hillary don't have that combination. It really isn't about Bernie or the election so much. Off to find the link to the thread ...

In that the public is ready to accept falsified messages, memes, and misrepresentations that destroy a candidate's ability to get their messages across to voters at large. I do believe there are other forces at work here beyond BLM.

The actions of her husband as president devastated African American communities and lives. Thousands of us will go door to door with that message to African American voters. Hillary and her handlers underestimate the African American community. They have lived the results of Clinton's compromises to the Republicans and they need only be shown who is backing Hillary and giving her her millions to see that she will sell them out also.

Actions that have destroyed so many PoC's lives. Actions that have made many PoC's lives more difficult.

I don't understand her strong support within the PoC community. I just don't get it.

Will speeches that are expertly and professionally crafted really overcome all of her past actions? Really?

nonsense has already backfired, on HILLARY. Rightly or wrongly, Social Media has decided it is a campaign dirty trick designed to stop her most serious threat for the nomination.

If that is not the case, she will have to publicly distance herself from these Rovian tactics.

and we've all come a long way since the 'Dean Scream' tactic.

I am so happy to see that none of these dirty tricks, whoever is responsible, have made a dent in Bernie's rise in just over two months.

It's a different world now than it was back then. The Old Media and their Old Status Quo Candidates, are going to have to come up with something better than their tired old political dirty tricks.
