Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumA fellow DUer and I went to a get together yesterday
in the home of an organizer, who is trying to stop the bringing of Alberta tar sands through our communities by rail. It's a nonpartisan issue because everyone right or left has skin in the issue. We could all burn to a crisp no matter what our politics if these toxic and inflammable trains are allowed.
Anyway the topic turned to the subject of the primaries and it turns out that in this gathering of mostly strangers we were all Bernie supporter. Bernie is getting more and more popular all the time regardless of any attempts the establishment Dems to derail him. No pun intended.

(9,497 posts)One is not political at all and the other I was sure a Hillary supporter. They asked me what I would be doing Saturday night. I said I was going to the Bernie Sanders event. The one who wasn't political said she had been invited by the receptionist at her chiropractor but couldn't go because she would be hanging out with her autistic niece.
The other one said she did not like Hillary. Not sure why but hadn't liked her since 2008. This is my Doris Day look alike friend.
I tell you, Hillary has some lukewarm support.

The 2 males from work...gay...said, oh yes, she's for the LGBT community! But didn't know anything about her from the last hundred years.

(9,214 posts)Nice thread about Bernie supporters. I will briefly add my own experience.
I have a friend that is a Republican supporter, mostly because of the abortion issue. He is now a firm Bernie supporter. We are both in our mid sixties and I think he feels the pressure to do what is necessary for people in our age bracket and it is obvious that Bernie is the best choice for that.
He now realizes, with my help, that the Republicans are playing games with the abortion issue, in fairness I am starting to believe the Democrats are playing games with the single payer issue. He can't stand Hillary. In my limited circle I can't name one person that vocally supports Hillary.

(75,480 posts)eloquently about Hillary's poll numbers and popularity. Yet, when you go out into the real world doing your errands, talking to people casually, if the conversation turns to the present campaigns, hardly anyone seems to like Hillary. Even Republicans who aren't thrilled about the Klown Kar and Donald Trump especially, don't like Hillary.
