Could a 'President Bernie Sanders' deliver?

(snip)
I've lived in Vermont for nearly four decades, and I've watched Bernie (everyone here calls him Bernie) at work, listening to him carefully since he first won the mayor's job in Burlington in 1981. I've read his position papers, listened to many of his speeches and attended his town hall-type forums, even talked to him personally about the issues that concern him. Most Vermonters know him well, and we have a pretty good idea about what he might attempt to do in the Oval Office.

(snip)
There would be massive opposition to his ideas on many fronts, from the Supreme Court to Congress to the tea party to even some on the left. The wealthiest 2% would squeal, as would major corporations, and they would fund lobbyists who would attempt to fight any legislation that threatened business as usual, which has worked very well for those in the highest tax brackets, although not so well for those below them.

But as Americans will vividly learn when the Democratic Party debates begin, Bernie Sanders is extremely smart and well-informed. And he doesn't back down in a fight. Vermonters already know this.

As president, he would take his agenda to the country and without flinching. And he might just convince Americans to support legislation that would actually benefit them in the long run and even in the short run.

1. This is exactly why we need involved and engaged citizens at every level. Nobody can do it alone.

If we can wait in line for hours to hear an uplifting speech, we can do the work of supporting and electing progressive candidates at the local, state, and congressional level too!

I don't think the Executive really manages them, they manage him. If Bernie tries to reduce their budgets and influence it could get pretty ugly. My personal feeling is that they are controlled by the oligarchs to do their bidding.

If POTUS, Bernie can pick the DNC chair, and we can rid ourselves of the horrible witch. Progressive candidates will get party support.

He can't do it alone.

It's way over due for a housecleaning at the Federal, State and local levels and hat gets done by voting.

Pukes, Baggers, DINO's and Third Wayers need to go.

can do is bring the fight right up front for change through the people.
Hillary has mutual backers and interests as many Conservatives and some think this is a strength to give her leverage. I feel it may do "some" things but overall stall the speed at which things need to happen now. They will be spending all of their time attacking her also so add that time wise.
To me, Bernie is my only hope for survivability and choice. He has integrity but also strength and convictions and is extremely smart. I will stand behind him and hope others can come along to aid him should he get into office. I agree with his vision and steadiness.
