(6,440 posts)I suspect the RW wants to boost Bernie because they think he's unelectable. In which case, they may be in for a nasty shock.

Sorry for that OT question, just curious.

The science of this is a bit like capillary action with water continuing to infuse the message. Of course this is the state next to Vermont.
Go Bernie
Your message is B R O A D !!!

(22,271 posts)Get all scienc-y on me! I don't know what you just said but I think I agree.

(20,453 posts)Imagine (if you will) the photo below with three cups. However, one cup of liquid is colored red and one blue, on either side of an empty cup. Insert a wade of paper towel and let "capillary action" pull red and blue liquid into the empty cup. This happens by capillary action.
But, by using my strange imagination of the Bernie Sanders capillary action, the cups of all red states and blue states would harmonize eventually evolve into a healing purple hue.
Imagine that! Healing HUMANS.

(4,211 posts)Bernie can open the door...but we still have to walk through.
Electing him would merely be the first step. The next would be to support him and pressure other politicians to support him as well!
merrily
(45,251 posts)We should also be trying, where we each live, to get voting machines out of the process and to make sure people are registered to vote, can get an absentee ballot, if they need one, etc.

(4,211 posts)I'm kind of amazed at how many people in my area are so very pro-Bernie. I've even had a few people evangelize to me about him, thinking I wasn't already for Bernie. Quite amazing really!
Its so energizing to see fellow supporters out and about!

(45,251 posts)someone could not mock me or argue about it. IMO, it's great. I don't agree with people who say we all should be able to post anywhere on the board. I don't have a need for more places on this board to argue. Er, I mean, discuss.

Sometimes all you want is some civil discourse... sometimes all you get is a "discussion" with a rabid wombat.
I used to work at a place where we described useless discussions (or any other useless activity) as a "wombat"
T'was an acronym that stood for "Waste Of Money, Brains And Time"

(4,211 posts)Totally stealing that acronym btw. Hope you don't mind

(2,741 posts)Without Bernie as president, doors will remain closed...The fight will never end, but for democracy to survive, politicians will have to enact the policy proposals Bernie is making...For instance, much work must be done to take control of local and state governments away from corporate masters...demolishing gerrymandering, for instance, will give voters hope that they are actually part of the process...
Progressives are the most thoughtful people, working to make a better world...the list of changes is long, but the work for change must continue...

(15,480 posts)He'd never heard of him before, but was very interested and asked a number of questions - one of which was "You mean he's running against Hillary?" Me: "Yes". Him: Oh! (BIG SMILE), & wrote down Bernie's name to look him up on the web.
Note to self: Get additional bumper sticker - instead of my present ones which simply say: Bernie Sanders 2016, one that spells out BERNIE SANDERS FOR PRESIDENT 2016.

(45,251 posts)I am on the mailing list of a RWer (long story). He was solid for Trump to start with, saying Trump tells the truth, then started saying, "He's going to shoot himself in the foot. We have to back someone else."

(248 posts)who will turn out in huge number for Bernie come election time. For those who still think socialism is bad, you don't have to run away from the label or try to downplay it. Just ask them "don't you like parks and libraries, police and fire departments, public transit, museums, the post office, the military, the VA, the Interstate Highway system, airports, public schools, subsidies for farmers, NASA, NIH, research grants for colleges?" We have a lot of socialism to be proud of in this country.

(55,981 posts)Where did that term come from? Has he ever said he was a socialist? He has said he is a Democrtic Socialist. Big Fracking difference.
But the conservatives want to try to smear him wit "avowed socialist". Show me a link.
Predictions of his un-electability come from those that fear change. Too bad, the movement has started.
The class war has two sides. Which side are you on?

(11,945 posts)They've either ignored him (and his amazing come-from-behind successes) or subtly denigrated him in an article, so I suspect the fact that it's a Boston Herald poll got their attention.
But I was sad to see that they couldn't even mention it on the front page, not even in the "Politics" list.
