Gave away a couple of thousand buttons, signed up more than 500 volunteers. Also registered voters and encouraged WA State voters to sign Initiative 735--Get Big Money out of politics. Sold t-shirts, hats and bumper stickers also.

Friday was awful--a downpour more typical of November than August, and Rte 99 shut down. Started out at 2pm for a 4-8pm shift, and didn't get there until 5:30. by which time the Bernie booth and the Hempfest voter registration booth was shut down. Sunday was sunny and mild.
The crowd was younger than I remember from previous years, with more tie-dye than I've seen in one place since the Be-Ins of the 60s. Many previously uninvolved people signed up for campaign information.
Still no official WA State campaign site, but a couple of volunteer efforts have popped up.

(26,449 posts)How did you get the buttons etc to give away?
Local fundraising?
I'm working on getting a local group going here and need all the knowledge about how to do it right that I can get.

(51,907 posts)Luckily, we took in enough money to cover the booth and a lot of the material. One guy is still a couple of hundred in the hole, though. It's a real problem when there is no official state website to funnel the money to.
