Thom Hartmann on BLM.

I very strongly believe that Bernie, if asked to respond to Thom Hartmann's comments, would fully adopt them in toto. Bernie is building a Rainbow Coalition that will dwarf what Jesse Jackson did in 1988. That is the only way we are going to win the nomination.

Bernie has come out with a strong policy statement on police brutality and structural racism in America, because he has been fighting for social justice all his life. His political goals are aligned on these critical issues with BLM, other activists and their allies. imo, we should focus on that good news, because that is either a significant component of how we will win the nomination or, if we do not align with his inclusive message, fail.

I believe we will succeed because the vast majority of Bernie supporters are people of good will who want to put America and the world on the right track. An important part of that track is social justice for native, black, brown and LGBT people, as well as women. White privilege notwithstanding, I believe in the egalitarian principle that no person in this society is truly free, until all people are actually free.

Campaign cycles mean food fights on DU. Always have, always will. but before publishing an OP, please consider this question:

What would Bernie do?
