Bernie Sanders Draws More People Than Clinton Or Trump With Crowd That Stopped Iowa State Fair

Bernie Sanders Draws More People Than Clinton Or Trump With Crowd That Stopped Iowa State Fair

Jason Easley writing at Politicus USA lets us know that not only has the MSM noticed Bernie Sanders (Meet The Press being the most main stream of all) but Chuck Todd has finally seen the Bernie Sanders phenomenon up close and personal and he's now a believer.

Chuck Todd reported on Meet The Press that Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders drew more people to the Iowa State Fair than Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Todd said that the Sanders crowd was so big that it stopped the fair.

Before bringing in Sanders for an interview, Todd said, “From my three days in Iowa, it’s clear to me that the Bernie Sanders phenomenon is very real. The Vermont Independent Senator is attracting huge crowds.”

After bringing in Sanders, Todd continued, “I have to say I was both in Clear Lake watched you there, watched you in Soapbox. You had so many people, the fair stopped. Forget Trump. Forget Hillary Clinton. I think you might have had the biggest crowd yesterday.”

Bernie2016TV tried to livestream his event in Dubugue but there were technical problems which they say, they are encountering at other Bernie events.

I haven't found any information on how big that crowd was yet.

His next event is tomorrow, Tuesday in Reno!

Many people, like myself, were watching the GOP debates for the comedy & to see just how big a buffoon Trump would be...It was not as if everyone watching was interested in voting Republican.

...Kinda like "Rubber-Necking" on the interstate as you pass a bad wreck...You don't want to see it but something seems to make everyone look anyway. LOL!

That is my take anyway.

I LOVE that!

First time I heard it.

And www.Bernie2016.tv is trying so hard but problems persist...I'm confident that it will improve.

They said after the Los Angeles event that they want to be at every event, go 24/7 and add original programs to watch...if folks haven't checked them out, put a bookmark on them and watch for updates.

but could not resolve the issues. They will be at Reno hoping to have more success.

Here was their post at DK:

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/08/16/1412644/-LIVESTREAM-Bernie-Sanders-Dubuque-Iowa-Town-Meeting-NOW

4:13 PM PT: It's been a real education watching how the coverage of these events has come together. Anyone that watched the Los Angeles live coverage saw the triumph of crowd-sourced coverage in the face of a media blackout.

It sometimes takes a few minutes, but someone will eventually get a Periscope feed or someone's cell phone and we all get a peek into the room.

It's amazing really.

Stay tuned: We'll get a feed shortly...

I hope.

4:39 PM PT: Just like in Los Angeles, the press wi-fi is down and the 4G (all the "Gs&quot are overloaded and crashing.

There is still some hope but lack of bandwidth and overloaded press networks has been an issue at every Bernie rally recently.

I'll stick here and keep updating if any feed becomes available. I'm trying.

Sorry...

5:23 PM PT: No livestream today.

Sorry folks, we couldn't make it happen today. As one of the Bernie2016TV commentators said, it's the first time they haven't been able to find something.

Looks like Tuesday is the next rally, from Reno, Nevada, with a (maybe) stream available.

are apparently not interested. So what we have to do is to support our choices of candidates in Congressional races. That has already begun to happen at state and local levels.

Eg, if Bernie wins the nomination, Progressive Candidates for Congress, generally not supported by the current leadership, will benefit from his candidacy as people realize how important it will be for him to have the Democratic Congress filled with Representatives who are working for the people.

If he doesn't win, we will have missed a chance in a lifetime to turn things around for the people.

MTP several times now, and while initially he played the media game of trying to get Bernie focused on attacking Hillary, which Bernie refused to do and insisted on talking about Issues, I think he is learning to respect him, personally. Who could not, unless they have an agenda and there are plenty who have, including on partisan forums.

But honesty and integrity and FACTS if someone is willing to focus on the issues as Bernie does, and has an army of volunteers who get the word out as to where the PEOPLE can hear him for themselves, do manage to get through the haze, especially when the population itself is disgusted with the entire political process.

Mon Aug 17, 2015, 04:37 PM

It runs the entire length of the fairgrounds and that portion pictured is in front of the grandstand which can be seen in the background. To give you an idea of the size of the building, the grandstand overlooks an infield which is surrounded by a track, where trotting races, and sometimes dirt track car races were held in the past. To give another sense of scale, the area that can be seen in the photo extends back about two blocks to the Senator's left. To the right, around the corner from the grandstand is the midway.

It's not unusual for a weekend crowd at the Iowa State Fair to be more than 100,000 people. With the Grand Concourse filled like that, the fair would very nearly have come to a halt.

speech as was evident in CSpan's coverage. Todd was there and witnessed for himself the huge crowds, many who had traveled long distances to get to hear Bernie speak.

His Dubuque event eg, drew 1,500 people. Hillary's 400.

Chuck struggled like all the other MSM pundits, not to accept the reality of Bernie's appeal to ordinary people. I am glad to see him finally acknowledge it after witnessing it for himself.

Other than MTP, the MSM did not report on Bernie's presence at the Fair at all. I thought he wasn't there.

Thanks to independent NEW media, I was able to get news on his presence there.

The MSM are a disgrace, they did not report on the Scott Walker soapbox either where he was protested by large numbers of people, his supporters and protesters getting into pushing and shoving each other.

All they were interested in was the Donald Trump Show.

Chuck Todd gets credit for at least letting people know that Bernie Sanders was there AND outdid Trump wrt to people who were there to hear him speak.

because of his long, long record of consistency in fighting for the PEOPLE. And that is why we are seeing so much effort to dampen discussion of ISSUES because let's face it, he is a hands down winner on issues so 'distract' is the tactic being used.

You could post all day about the great things that are happening in his campaign, which is why I don't kn0w why anyone goes into the sad little OPs that are trying so hard to distract.

a democratic socialist at best. The Republicans are overlooking one thing. I right-wing half-wit on dissability and food assistance does not want to be cut back any more than anyone else. So, you convinced him to vote for your guys for years so the guvmint wouldn't git his guns. Maybe that's not gonna work so well any more? People do expect their government to do things for them.

Tue Aug 18, 2015, 10:54 AM

People aren't just supporting Sanders, they're supporting the Sanders movement. They're hearing from friends and trusted commentators and also going by that. They see who is getting behind Sanders, and none of the people and groups who are urging on a Sanders win are people or groups that they're leery of.

That's the upside of the downside of not having the support of the traditional establishment based in Washington. The crowd that brought down the economy - not behind Sanders. The war mongers - not behind Sanders. The exporters of jobs - not behind Sanders. The gutters of the social safety net - not behind Sanders.

Those on the other side of those issues - many are behind Sanders.

This is part of why people are getting behind Sanders. What he does represent, and what he doesn't represent.

represents them, they are making their own choices rather than going along with their parities' choices.

We've been told so often that Dems can't run on a progressive message because the country is 'center right'. That is false. All polls show that Bernie represents the people according to polls on every major issue.

And I agree also that people ARE supporting a Movement rather than just a candidate.
