Over $2 Million in small donations and 175,000 volunteers signed up in just a few days! Go Bernie!

I just watched Bernie on Rachel's Show.

He was great as always.

He said he has had 175,000 people sign up to volunteer for his campaign already.

That's a small army and likely to increase.

Off to a great start!

I haven't watched Rachel in a while, however, my sister does. It would be good to get her take, but yours first...

coming up, in June I believe and he's going to vote against it.

Rachel started out by asking him about Hillary. He did what he always does when they ask him about her, he turned the conversation to the issues, especially upcoming legislation.

She asked him if was surprised at how well his campaign started.

He said that he knew there was an undercurrent of support for him before he announced.

After mentioning the upcoming legislation he did say he would like to know where Hillary stands on these issues (following up on Rachel's question).

There should be a video on their site and I'm sure someone will post it as soon as it is up.

Great that you joined.

I really think he has a chance!

I do watch the live stream and chat room with the Malloy folks (big supporter there). When Malloy says, in response to a caller, "Yes, I Do think he has a chance", I pay attention.

Mike Malloy believes, of course, that the push against Sanders will come in the form of his socialism, which of course will be twisted into his being "a communist", but that's what I'd expect the Republicans and some others to push.

Yes, the will try the Socialism thing. We should look at that as an opportunity to educate a lot of very ignorant people.

Maybe take it on BEFORE they start using it.

We should think about how to do that to demolish the 'socialists are commies' routine.

He won't be able to pay his "volunteers" (cough) so they will have to be doing it because they believe it.

I believe early success will be the big tipping point. The meme is that "Bernie can't win." Well, if he starts winning, I think it will create a huge snowball effect.

success, out raising all the Republican Candidates. And they get the big bucks so to out raise them with small donations is definitely a great sign.

I don't think his volunteers want to be paid. As you say, they will do it because they believe in him.

I agree, there will be a tipping point. They are still saying he can't win, but with a bit less certainty I noticed.

I like long shots, the odds are better when your long shot wins!

But in this case, it's more like working for yourself. I think a lot of creative, free spirited, funny things can come out of his campaign. His hair is already a good thing. I worry about party shenanigans though, A LOT.

and, I do not plan to donate to HRC ... she doesn't need my cash.

Though I do not have a preferred candidate, yet ... I figure Bernie needs the cash to communicate his platform.

However, I will not do any volunteer work until the primaries are over and a nominee is chosen.

a presidential candidate who raised $2million is small donations, and rounded up 170,000 volunteers in a few days would have been well on his way to a LANDSLIDE victory.

I noticed they made quite a fuss when JEB Bush raised that much money in a few days, but he had to do it by charging $100,000 a plate for dinner!

they've always gotten a hefty RETURN on investment in the form of tax cuts and tax loopholes. Somebody did the math once, and found that 'investing' in Congress has been more lucrative than any other form of investment.

But the downside is that the policies these people have paid for have resulted in some many poor, underemployed, and underpaid people who are ready for a new approach that they're now going to regret it. As soon as a REAL democratic socialist enters the arena, there's nothing left for them to do except try to bring in some more voter suppression laws!

One of the things I love about Bernie is that, when some right wing demagogue hits him with "You just want America to look more like Sweden," he responds with "Yeah...SO?" And proceeds to list all the ways that Sweden is better than the USA in terms of the middle class lifestyle and other desirable attributes.

inequality and how it harms a population in so many different ways. Most interesting was that the richest countries seem to have the most inequality and the most unhappy people due to the effects of inequality, poor self image, violence, no opportunities, poor health, infant mortality rates etc.

But in the Scandinavian countries people are much happier, though their countries are nowhere as wealthy as this one.

The speaker joked that 'if Americans want to achieve the American dream, maybe they should go to Denmark'.

I think Bernie would have liked that.

You can look that up in the CIA fact book. To be fair, that's because Norway taxed the oil drillers, and used the money to set up a retirement trust fund. Every Norwegian now has a retirement fund of $1million. If that policy was any more socialist...it would be ALASKA!
