Under the Sanders Low Income Solar Act, the Department of Energy would allocate $200 million in loans and grants to be used by low income families to offset some of the costs of rooftop solar panel installations and to help community facilities and other forms of public housing access renewable solar energy. This means resident energy bills will be lower and the source of their energy will be reliable and renewable. Win win win, just the way we like it.
Ever the liberal, Bernies bill would ensure prioritized loans for female and minority groups and Alaskan natives as well as for certain Indian tribal lands. The 2015 Low Income Solar Act has something for just about everyone. Thats Bernie!

(631 posts)Bernie explained the reason for his bill. The scientific community tells us very clearly if were going to reverse climate change and the great dangers it poses for the planet we must move aggressively to transform our energy system away from fossil fuels to sustainable energy. We can achieve this goal, save families money and protect the planet for future generations.
Like we said, win win -win.
For those homeowners that do not have suitable roofs and for apartment dwellers, Bernie also offers solar solutions. Tenants and homeowners without suitable rooftops can connect to community solar gardens. Sounds pretty socialist but the idea has broad appeal. Heck, even some Republicans are quietly getting on the solar-for-everyone bandwagon.

(47 posts)We don't get much power in the winter, sometimes need to supplement with alternate sources like generators but we haven't had a bill from the blood sucking utility providers saving us about $900.00 per year. That is $9,000.00 over ten years. the cost for our investment, around $5,000.00. This technology does work and getting cheaper by the day.
