Let the newbies lead!

This is a note to self, as well as a generic request. There are so many self-organized supporters who are new to active involvement, many of whom have never even voted before. The way you grow leadership is by encouraging people to lead. I regularly bite my own tongue to suppress the "don't teach your granny to knit" reflex that seems to become stronger with age. Whenever I do, the newbies get around to asking questions that old-timers are well placed to answer.

BTW, I never heard the knitting one, only "Don't teach your grandmother to suck eggs." I like the knitting one for a less goopy image.

I've been an activist for so long I'm constantly running the same internal dialogue, "Shut up, Vicki. They'll ask you for your experience and knowledge when they're ready. Your job is to shut up and listen." And yes, I do talk to myself. All the time. I don't trust anyone who doesn't .
