Dubuque, Iowa Hillary Clinton continues to lead her Democratic presidential rivals, but her support has slipped while one of her rivals, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, has surged, a new survey shows.
The survey shows that Clinton was backed by 48.2 percent of those questioned, while Sanders was backed by 22.9 percent. Thats a nine point drop for Clinton, while Sanders has seen a 10-fold increase in his backing.
Clinton continued to hold advantages in public support, organization in the field and support within the Democratic Party establishment, said Christopher Budzisz, a Loras College professor. But this summer has been very good for Senator Sanders. He has drawn large and enthusiastic crowd in the state and across the country. We have seen substantial positive movement for Sanders in our polling.
The Loras College poll questioned 502 people who said they were likely to attend Democratic precinct caucuses. It claims a 4.37 percent margin of error. The same poll in April showed Clinton with the backing of 57 percent of those questioned, while Sanders was backed by 2 percent.
