Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumFascinating ... They still think it's the Emails ...
As if Bernie's pure progressive bona fides aren't enough to sway voters ... They have to be 'turned off by the latest media craze' ...
"If it weren't for those emails .... "
No ... It's not about the emails ... it's about all the other stuff ... It's about a vision for the future, and the will to see it through ... It's about not doing the same thing over and over again ...
Emails ? ... what Emails ?

(9,904 posts)hysteria is such a waste of valuable limited time in order to right the many many injustices spreading like a plague across the land....
We really need to stop attacking each other, the average American cannot afford these dramatized distractions.....

(85,373 posts)BUT---they are the most concrete. There's physical proof of wrong-doing and stupidity. And tons of witnesses. And real investigations by FBI, etc.
So many of the other demerits are less substantiated or verifiable. That doesn't mean they are invalid, it just means they can be weaseled around, down-played, dismissed. A felony would be much harder to ignore.
You would think a lawyer would know this.

I do think they are more of a manufactured crisis than real ...
For me, it's the fact that Bernie is among the strongest Liberal voices to be heard in a few generations ... His stated policy positions are true gold in my eyes ... He is saying what WE have been saying all our political lives ...
Emails schmeemails ... It's all about the highly successful New Deal Great Society programs that we need to restore and protect ...

(17,064 posts)Top of my list are history with DLC/Koch Bros, ties to Wall St, her war-mongering, ties to The Family, and support for TPP...not to mention her friendship with the pos Kissinger. There's more, of course, but that alone is enough to turn me off.

(19,089 posts)The other side presents the emails as the primary reason democrats are turning away from Hillary ...
Yet for most Sanders supporters, it had nothing to do with the emails .. It's about the substance of his character and content of his policies ...
In other words, Sanders supporters are shallow thinkers who bend to the media wind, and do not use critical thinking to analyze the differences between each candidates stances ...
Sorry, Hillary supporters .. It's not about emails ... It's about policies that directly support working families ...

(3,795 posts)He's so much better than Clinton as a leader who could (and would) CHAMPION the issues that I care about and usher them in to the national consciousness. He could truly be a revolutionary President. One who could put an end to the Reagan Revolution (not by waving his magic wand), and that's what we so desperately need. A Bernie approved DNC chair (this is huge). As Leader of the Democratic Party he could have a substantial impact on the Democratic Party overall. Al From and the Clintons surely knew the President holds a lot of power over the Democratic Party, and they were hugely successful in radically changing the Democratic Party. Bernie might be able to BEGIN to change it back, and that is what we need.
It's about Bernie. He kicks ass.

(8,352 posts)They are not anywhere near the most important thing but they show us several things.
1) The scandal speaks to her character. She is not trustworthy. She lies, obfuscates, and distorts the truth to suit her end goals.
2) The scandal shows us yet again that as a leader she is lacking. She blames others for her mistakes. She tends to make the same mistakes over and over. The server security issues are equally as important as the boundaries between personal and professional emails. I don't want a leader with no boundaries or piss poor ones. And I am not alone.
3) The scandal shows us yet again that Clintons are ALWAYS surrounded by scandals of their own making. Since Arkansas, this has been going on. Enough is fucking enough. I don't want 4 or worse, 8 years of scandals plaguing the next Democratic Administration. I may not like the fact that Obama is a New Dem. I definitely loss respect and trust for him when it became obvious that he was not anywhere as near a progressive as he was attempting to pretend on the campaign trail. But....Obama is not a scandalous person. He is a professional, respects boundaries and rules of law, and is a decent man.
I could never say with any sense of real honesty that I think either of the Clintons are decent people when it comes to questions about their character and actions.
And despite some apologists who call this 'piety', this is actually reality. There are many both in and out of the Democratic party who are sick of the constant lies, scandals, and bullshit. We want a candidate with integrity. Even if you don't agree with Sanders about everything, and even I don't, I know from his words, actions, and congruent history, that he is a man of good character.

(11,785 posts)Replace the person, and you've "fixed" the problem.
If, on the other hand, you blame unpopular policies, then you have to change the policies to "fix" the problem, and some people really don't want that to happen.
