A friend of mine says he favors Bernie Sanders but doesn’t dare vote for him because “if Bernie wins the Democratic nomination, the Republican candidate will win.”

Really? The latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll tells a different story. In Iowa, for example, Jeb Bush leads Hillary Clinton by 10 points in a hypothetical general-election match up among registered voters, 50 percent to 40 percent; Donald Trump is ahead of her by seven points, 48 percent to 41 percent; and Carly Fiorina leads Clinton by 14 points, 52 percent to 38 percent.
