Related: About this forumWTF? Hillary now says she's "ending private prisons", but her bundlers are private prison lobbyists?

This link is being touted i the Hillary Group as "proof" that Hillary says "she will end (private prisons)"
https://www.hillaryclinton.com/issues/criminal-justice-reform/
But as recently as 2-3 months ago, Hillary was reportedly using Private Prison lobbyists as fund-raisers and bundlers for her Super-Pac.
How the hell does that work? How can anyone take what Hillary says seriously anymore?
I KNOW where Bernie Sanders stand on this, his position is clear as a bell, with no strings attached

Guess Who Else Is Fundraising for Clinton: Private Prison Lobbyists
In addition to Wall Street and the fossil fuel industry, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is turning to lobbyists for the two biggest private prison companies in the country, Corrections Corporation of America and the GEO Group, to raise money for her 2016 presidential candidacy.

(19,326 posts)Guess we'll see if it gets asked. I made it a two-part question.
Private Prisons: a) do you support ending private prisons in America, b) has your campaign ever used private prison lobbyists as fund-raisers and/or bundlers for your Super-PAC?

I'm thinking of starting an OP on them, but don't want to hurt tender feelings.

(14,881 posts)and by their deeds. The Morgan and Citi are the US 2 of the 5 she referred to that were involved in fixing interest rates; Credit Suisse was part of the HSBS money laundering scheme.
That's why I very specifically singled out those banks by name...because she did by reference, and they are near the top of her donors list.
Eric J in MN
(35,619 posts)...who donated to her probably weren't involved in those crimes.

(19,537 posts)Unless we can get enough people to lobby Republican senators to also vote against it when a simple majority vote without a filibuster comes up for it, Keystone XL Pipeline will also either be brought back or basically push tons of more debt on to us from a resolution from a TPP ISDS court that surely would let Transcanada screw us one way or the other. And Hillary will act like there's nothing she could do about it then, when she COULD have done a lot more like Bernie has all along tried to do to stop it when one could stop it.

Bernie Sanders does. He introduced the "The Justice Is Not for Sale Act" which "bars the federal government from contracting with private companies starting two years after the bill is passed."

Only way to actually enact these policies is to get a person who has been consistent in his beliefs and stands. We all know who that is.
We've seen that with the last two Dem presidents.

(19,537 posts)... which DOES cost Americans jobs, which she is using now as a rationalization for opposing TPP after the fact.
I wonder if it will take a potential threat of it being asked as a debate question in one of the few debates we have (which she's probably counting on it not being a large enough issue to be so), or if the Republicans are able to get a huge H-1B quota expansion on some immigration bill that has a lot of other goodies in it for corporatists that they want to try and push corporate Democrats in to signing this quarter. Probably won't happen in time before primary season, so she'll probably still try to avoid taking a stance here. We should PUSH her to do so to see if we can push her in to taking a current public position on it to restate her position from 2007 supporting it, or to change gears on this issue as well.
99th_Monkey
(19,326 posts)or doesn't support. She's clearly saying, "whatever Bernie says, that's my position", which
IMHO does not mean diddley-squat. nothing.
Once she (god forbid) gets into the WH, THEN and only then, will she show her true colors,
and it doesn't take a genius to know what that will look like. Just look at her record.
